Shit's about to get real.

The Padres are in a fine jam. Do they buy, sell or stand pat and continue getting LOL'ed at by the collective baseball world?

Great topic! Winners of 4 straight, the Padres are 6 games out of the Wildcard at the All Star Break, ahead of 6 other teams that would love to be in their place. I don't think those particular 6 members of the baseball world are laughing at them. Then you've got Kemp, whose OPS historically jumps .034 after the all star break, and Venable, whose career BA pops from .234 to .272 and who hits most of his home runs after the all star break. Same thing with Upton, Gyorko and Alonso to varying degrees, Alonso most pronounced among them. Oh and don't get me started on Tyson Ross and Kennedy, whose ERAs plunge in the second half while Shields remains steady. This is what they call a second half team, and this is why there's no panic of any kind with the deadline so close. So don't you worry - and you're welcome.

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the Astros have acquired starter Scott Kazmir from the A's.

Kazmir was due to start for Oakland in Thursday's series finale against the Blue Jays, but he'll board a plane to Houston instead. The 31-year-old left-hander took a shutout into the ninth inning in his last turn in the A's rotation and he boasts a stellar 2.38 ERA 1.085 WHIP, and 101/35 K/BB ratio through 109 2/3 total innings this season. It's a big boost for the Astros, who have fallen behind the red-hot Angels in the American League West standings

Is Buster Poser on the block or are they afraid he doesn't have enough value, moxie? :noidea:

I am unfamiliar with both the guys the A's got, but both are in A ball. They had better trust their scouts to make that deal. Two kids who are likely 2-3 years away, assuming they dont follow the same path as 95% of other prospects and fall on their faces.

I am glad I am not an A's fan...

These deals undermine the integrity of MLB.

Change your signature, Kind Sir. As a Yankees fan I should not agree with you on anything.

Brady is guilty.
I feel better now.
Great post!

Should the Dodgers deal Puig? I hear he's not the best teammate but they'd be selling low based on his potential

Will the Orioles go all out? 8 pending free agents the window of opp. is closing, go all in!

Are we going to see Detroit blow up it's high payed roseter? and will KC add a pitcher n at what cost?

Hope the Indians don't trade any SP's. Reds are likely to move some players. Dbacks better not give away more prospects.

Those are just my random thoughts, excited to see who moves where

Teams don't get great prospect packages for 2-month rentals.
