I was warned that Obama was going to interfere with the ***skins game. He's used his weather ray to make it cold in Green Bay. That's never a cold stadium and it's REALLY cold today. Clearly an advantage to Green Bay.
I'm so glad I don't have in-laws with such insane radical views. Oh wait, my father-in-law is a preacher.

Good thing neither he nor I are on the facebooks.

That game was more WWE than NFL. What a shit show the league has become.

The game's too pussified now! The game's out of control! Which one is it?

If you think that scrums and dirty play are worse today, that's absurd. People used to bite people in piles and it was accepted. Ndamukong Suh is reviled today, he wouldn't have been that unusual 30-40 years ago. Players now help each other up and have concussion rules to prevent further injury. Guys use to play hungover from drinking the night before. Hell, Riggins and the Hogs used to drink beer after every practice in a shed ON the training camp field. Do you think that happens now? No, guys go home and follow the curfew given to them by the team and eat exactly what a nutritionist has laid out for them.

So when you say "has become," I have to ask what you're talking about exactly? Because the NFL today is still a rough sport as its always been, but it's more professional, more health conscious, and more collegial than in the past, partly due to the fact that these guys make a lot more money and are more aware of how they can affect each other's professional lives, whereas 40 years ago

What has changed is our awareness of these issues, our ability to view them in the HD slow motion to know exactly what happened, and our general lack of acceptance of certain kinds of behavior in the NFL that have always existed, but now are penalized, suspended, and fined.

I can't believe an important football game like this one is being played with shadows on the field.

The commish sucks and cannot help but shoot himself in his foot when he opens his mouth and the rules change seemingly on every play with little guidance. You can spear a guy with the crown of your helmet and knock him out cold yet it's a legal play yet you barely put two fingers on a quarterback's helmet and it's a personal foul? When there is too much open to interpretation on every play and hit, it is more WWE than NFL.

Actually that is not a legal play. The refs may miss some calls, but I'm pretty sure that has existed, does exist, and will exist until the end of time. If anything, technology is now correcting human mistakes in that area.

If that is not a legal play how in the hell does a playoff crew miss it and the former official being used as a mouthpiece for the league on the telecast defend it?

So the refs care more about a receiver maintaining possession as he falls to the ground than a guy that gets knocked out cold - one a reviewable play and one not. I know it's a violent sport but if the technology allows it then review it.

I assume you mean the Shazear hit. How did they miss it? Have you ever been a referee? Bitch of a job. We've seen plenty of hits in hockey that looked illegal on first blush only to reveal they weren't after the fact, and vice versa. Refs will make mistakes.

I don't understand how that means the league is now a "shit show." That hit would have been legal years ago. I think you are just reinforcing my original point that the league is safer and better now in that regard. It doesn't mean you'll NEVER have dirty plays or illegal hits, but there is more recourse now than in the past.
