So, should Cincy have just downed the ball three times causing the Steelers to burn all 3 timeouts and then try to kick a FG to push the lead to 4 points? Hindsight is 20/20.
Yes. And really who cares about the FG. The Bengals should have kneeled on the ball, or just gone down as soon as the carrier was touched.
Make the Steelers go 60 yards in 40 seconds with no time outs.
The hit on Brown was terrible and stupid. I would like to see exactly what the second flag was for. Porter, or any other coach, should not be allowed to antagonize players on the field. If that's what happened.

God, watching it again. What a scary play how Brown just went completely limp immediately.

He postured too...when your arms stay up like that and fall in slow motion, it's called fencing response. It's scary. Really just another indicator of it being a concussion, but always scary.

I think he was on the field being a motivator, that's basically his role on the coaching staff. It was a dead ball, so I think it had something to do with that. I think Jones has a gripe for him being on the field, but he's an absolute buffoon for doing what he did and expecting to not get a flag. The refs were pretty damn gracious tonight (which sounds nuts after looking at the total penalty yards), so pushing the envelope is just dumb. And, well, dumb is right up Pacmans alley.

Actually, an amendment: Porter had a right to be on the field. AB was being tended to at that moment, coaches often on the field then. Injury timeout.

Yeah but do coaches often antagonize players? It sure looked like he was getting involved and not just tending to the injured player.
I don't really care, I don't like either team and they may have kicked the FG from the spot of the previous legit call but it looked like he helped "draw" the penalty. If so that's garbage.

Maybe not, I haven't heard a explanation of what action explicitly prompted the flag.

I said that to my more football-educated friends when the fumble happened. They all said no.

Given how well the defence had played to that point, Ben was hurt and the rain was miserable I think I was dead-on. Also, weren't the Bengals in FG range? Would've made Pit have to go for a TD.

ESPN's Adam Schefter says Steelers assistant coach Joey Porter will be fined for coming on to the field and engaging Bengals players.

He did his job well...same stuff he did as a player. I think he can still be on the field for AB...it's AB, everyone associated with the team was worried. I'm sure he said something that prompted him to be surrounded by Bengals, but words and actions have different punishments in the game, and Pacman ran at him full speed like a fool. Zero control...the dude fell right into the trap just because Peezy was smiling. They can pissed about him being on the field all they want, and maybe if they don't run up and shove the guy, the 15 yards goes the other way, but the lack of discipline is what lost them the game. The Steelers were the less disciplined all night until the final minute, Bengals players decided to take selfish shots, and it killed them. They handed the game to their opponent in a way I've honestly never seen, certainly not under these circumstances.

If this isn't a headline somewhere, I have lost all faith in humanity.

"A Burfict Ending to a Shit-Show Game"

The non-call on Shazier's helmet shot started all this. If that had been called, the game would have gone the way of the Bengals, because there wouldn't have been such an outcry in the Drama Queen City.

Either way, neither team is/was going to make it past the next round.

I don't think anyone has ever seen a game handed away like that. The only thing I am not surprised about was that it was an Ohio team it happened to.

I'll disagree about everything else. "Did his job well" in regards to a coach drawing a penalty is absurd, never should have happened. The league looks worse and worse all the time. But I'm not a fan of 'pests' in the NFL trying to draw penalties in between plays. I hated when Hines Ward used to do it, I hated when Ray Rice used to so it. It cheapens the league.

I'm not saying I like it, but it's allowed. As long as the league allows it, it's a tactic and guys will use it. Even coaches will use it. That said, I certainly think Porter is going to be told to stay on the sidelines by Tomlin. He could've just as easily cost his team instead of getting 15 yards.

People misinterpreted Hines Ward's constant smiling and genuine love of the game with being a pest between plays. :)

I was warned that Obama was going to interfere with the ***skins game. He's used his weather ray to make it cold in Green Bay. That's never a cold stadium and it's REALLY cold today. Clearly an advantage to Green Bay.
