Can they execute?

I don't know, you tell me. You were there, you saw it. We do all that in practice. They were out of position and missed their assignments. We'll get it fixed.

Mikel coined a great name for Adam "Bomb" Taylor today in scrimmage. Kid is going to be a beast!

I think it was Mikel, maybe it's already been stated

Tommy said today that they're switching to a new football that's skinnier and has a lot more grip. Say's it's a lot easier to throw and that he hated the old balls they used. I wonder if it'll help Ameer and everyone else be able to hold on to it a little better. :noidea:

Using that old beat up ball that they found at some elementary school playground was seriously the dumbest thing.

You could take a brand new ball and pour water over it before every snap and it would still be easier to hang on to.

He may have loved to throw it.....for whatever reason that may be.........but he sure didn't love to hang on to it.

I have to believe that ball had some to do with our fumbling issues.

Nebraska becomes the first team since 1891 to use the exact same ball every single game for 4 consecutive seasons.

Hell I heard they had to sew it back together 3 or 4 times.

I didn't wanna say it, because it sounds so asinine to think that the University of Nebraska football program would purposely provide its players with sub par equipment to suit one players needs. Even if that player is the QB.

Tommy said he begged for the Rifle ball but the equipment staff said that they can't change balls mid season for whatever stupid reason. Sounds retarded so it must be an NCAA rule.

God only knows if that cost us wins. It sounds absurd, but when you really think about it, it's a real possibility.

LOL I know you're being sarcastic. Or at least I hope you are. Here's some fun facts from the 2012-'13 season:

» Only eight Division I players lost six fumbles or more. Two of them — Taylor Martinez and Ameer Abdullah — played for Nebraska.

» Over the past two years, only two Division I players have more than 20 fumbles. Army’s Trent Steelman has 23. Martinez has 29.

» Nebraska lost a staggering five fumbles on punt returns. Abdullah had three of those.

» The fumbles are not a one-year epidemic. The Huskers have put the ball on the ground 112 times the past three years. Second-worst is Georgia Tech with 99 fumbles.

» The difference in 2012 was the percentage of fumbles NU lost. The average D-1 team recovers approximately 50 percent of its fumbles. In 2010 and ’11, NU was lucky, recovering 64 percent and 66 percent. This year it recovered just 37 percent.

» How bad is NU’s ball handling? Consider that over the past five years, NU has more fumbles lost (77) than Alabama has total turnovers (72).
