The same ones who are complaining now would have fucking complained if the refs went against the rulebook because "common sense" said it was a catch - people need to pick a side and stick with it

The ref did what he should have done but I think thats an awful rule.

Looks like the Indy-Denver game is going to be another entertaining, close game as well.

I got a "dangit, Flacco" and a "hoping my Torrey Smith jersey is still relevant next year" right now.

Did your friends eat a lot of paint chips as kids?

I grew up within eyeball distance of the Aberdeen Proving Ground's Mustard Gas factory.

Paint chips would be an improvement.

I have a feeling Peyton calls it quits after this - it's hard year after year to say that "he can't go out like this" but eventually it's going to be over - if he was going to win it all, it would have happened this year after what happened in the SB last year

sure glad the Seahawks won the conference.
GB is now 9-0 at home, but 4-4 on the road.

Pats have been to 9 of the last 14 AFC title games. That is ridiculously impressive.

In fact, over the last 20 AFC championship games, the Broncos, Pats, Steelers, Colts, and Ravens have won all but two of them and accounted for 30 of the 40 opponents in those games.

A little different in the NFC which has seen 6 straight different conference champs and over the last 20 years has seen only two teams (the Redskins and the Lions) not make the NFC title game.

That's what makes the Eagles going to four straight NFC title games and five out of eight NFC title games earlier in the 2000s more impressive in the NFC when you consider all the different teams that have made runs in the NFC

Hang it up Peyton...let Favre be the example of what happens when you hang around too long.

He just finished 4th in yards, 2nd in TDs, and 4th in QB rating. He's in good health. And given what we know about the compete level of pro athletes and the idea that nobody wants to get off the ride while it's still going... I can't imagine him stopping next year.

The problem is, you can't stay on the ride every year, eventually the ride starts to break down - yeah he still had very good stats, but it's more than stats imo

$28 schmills over the next two years doesn't hurt either.

It's more the fact that as the season wore on, there was a difference in his play. He was getting banged up of course, but second half of the season showed a pretty inconsistent guy, which is just not him.

9 of his 17 games were over 100 QBR, he had two other worldly type games (vs SF wk 7 and vs KC in wk 2), other than that, it was mediocre on his scale. I don't know, it depends on the player. Some need to go before their abilities drop below a certain point, some enjoy playing too much to let their declining skills sway them. His arm yesterday just looked...shot. His last 8 games this year, including last week, had an average QBR of 86.98, compared to 116.78 average in the first 9 games. Maybe I'm cherry picking stats, because it wasn't really completely linear in that second half, but he had 2 100+ QBR games in those last 8, 7 100+ QBR in the first 9 games. Also 15 INT is pretty high for him.

Reports saying Manning "tore his quad" in game vs. the Chargers on Dec. 14th. Funny how terminology changes based on the situation that players' team is in. Before a team is out of the playoffs it's called a "strain" and after it's a "tear". I mean, they're the same dang thing, but when you word it differently, it's more acceptable as an excuse.

speaking of QB rating ... not bad for a game manager (yes ... small sample size)
