Let's be fair about it. He did lower before the hit. Because that's where Aston-Reese's head was when he decided to make the hit from 15 feet away. He only raised when Aston-Reese started to lift to brace for the hit.

It's almost like a 6'4" player would need to lower his body considerably to even make an attempt to hit a player's shoulder who is 4-5 inches shorter than him...

Yes...when you lower your body to make contact, your body will naturally open back up. It's the basics of contact in hockey...
Take your goggles off and watch it. He was raising up before, anyway your body would not naturally come back up after coming under a player since the other players force would keep you down... basics of contact in hockey.

That's not true. If you lower your body, you will drive through your opponent's center of mass and push them backwards and perhaps down to the ice.

If you try to "light up" your opponent my lifting into the check, you will lift after contact. The collisions aren't elastic.

Serious question, have you played contact hockey? If you are at the same level while driving through a hit, you need some Tom Emansky shit to improve that form. There's a reason that players often leave their feet after a hit...because...physics...

It was a serious question, because you are talking like you have no idea what you are talking about.

The player who exerts the more force on the situation will drive through the hit. If a player is lowering his body to drive through a hit will naturally pop up on contact through. This is like bantam coaching shit.
