Polamalu's age and health are concerns.

I am going Timmons...
Troy hasnt been healthy in 3 seasons. He is great when active, but you cant spend on someone who doesnt play consistantly.

Gotta go with Troy. We won the division on his strip-sack of Flacco last season. When he's healthy, Troy brings another whole dimension to our D.

It could be said we lost the superbowl due to his not being 100% as well. Clearly the Steelers were ineffective covering the middle of the field, Nelson had a field day there.

it would have also helped if the whole team would have showed up to play in the first half of the sb .. you win as a team and you lose as a team ... I would take troy over timmons anyday

I am not downplaying Troy's value. Anyone would take a healthy Troy over a healthy Timmons, I want to see a healthy season before breaking the bank.

Cap room
The Steelers are about $3 million under the NFL salary cap, but that can change before the season starts. Right now, it counts only the top 51 players' salary cap figures for 2011. By the start of the regular season, it counts the 53-man roster, the practice squad and anyone on injured reserve.

Like I said, sign Simmons and franchise Troy. Then sign him of he stays healthy, or don't if he can't, ala Rod Woodson.

And we need cap room to sign a player if and when someone goes on ir. Since it counts fowled the cap. Fucking cheatriot rule right there!

If I had to make a list of people I wanted to see the Steelers lock up, long term.
My order, & I am only basing this on his age & injury history, not on how much I like him as a player & a person. Just Age & Health & Projected Gms Played in the future.

1 L. Timmons
2 M. Wallace
3 T. Polamalu.

Just my opinion.

Yeah I agree he's not due for awhile but pouncey can't go anywhere he needs to retire here.

Yeah, your right Steel Hurtin Pouncy is, of course, a Must to get a contract extension when he comes due for one. I certainly want him here, for his entire career.

I was just basing my list on my own personal preference, on the order of guys I would like to see the Steelers extend who will be up next yr or the yr after.

Your right, Pouncy, is a Must Keep but he is a few yrs away on his extension.

Timmons has far more long term value to the franchise at this point.

now that woodley is signed for a while,

he, pouncey, wallace, sanders need to be the huge focal points for looking into the future
