trolly this is the worst idea you've ever had. and I won't get into a long argument about it, but calling it "cheating" is just such an extreme viewpoint.

Only thing I can say is thank god it is the vast, vast minority view point.

HAHAHAHA you are fucking ridiculous. YOU BROUGHT up the fucking moronic football/basketball analogy not me. Jesus this is embarrassing.

Yes, I brought up the football analogy. Then you brought up the irrelevant point about stopping the play.

And that football example isn't even close to the same thing. A flag doesn't blow the play dead so once the play is completed you have the option. They are choosing between the result in the play or the penalty.[/qoute]

Does that sound fucking familiar? It should because you fucking wrote it. I simply pointed out that stopping the play (Which YOU brought up) has fuckall to do with the conversation. You seem to be under the impression that if an analogy isn't the exact same thing as what it's being compared to then it isn't a valid analogy. That's not how analogies work. If they were exactly the same it wouldn't be a fucking analogy. The key for analogies are the relevant details need to be the same, so just because you brought up some meaningless bullshit, doesn't invalidate my point.

I hope you are actually just trolling. I will have lost faith in humanity if you are actually this goddamn dumb.

There I can insult to. At least I have a logical stance. Fucking idiot.

I'm hoping you're just drunk.

I still love Coach Cal talking shit about how free throws don't matter.... Then he was wrong, they mattered A LOT.

Free Throws are a fundamental. Damn kids need to learn their fundamentals. Keep it the way it is.

It is an extreme viewpoint. And I certainly don't expect many to share it. But I stated it to make a point.

But explain to me where it isn't valid.

Do you accept the definition of cheating to be "intentionally breaking the rules in order to gain a competitive advantage"

If you don't, tell me what part you disagree with.

And if you do accept it, I'm curious how you can describe intentionally fouling at the end of a game in a way that doesn't fit that description.

If I send in a guy to foul so we can get the ball back is that cheating?
If I send in a guy to foul so he can start a fight and get another player ejected, is that cheating?
If I send in a guy to foul so that he injures another player and forces an inferior sub to play, is that cheating?

Free throws absolutely matter. You still need to make them if you're fouled in the act of shooting.

I don't think anybody is suggesting that they be eliminated. Just de-incentivize them.

Haha holy goddamn hell. How is this even possible? I can say without a doubt you are the dumbest person I have had the displeasure to come across. And I know my main man Dougplayer.

Stopping the play has everything to do with YOUR god awful analogy you moron. When a foul results in a completely fucking different outcome...your comparison falls apart. Obviously, you were unable to understand this.

Then stupidly you brought up out of bounds whistles and so on?? YOU brought them up. Again, as they had ZERO relevance.

You have gotten so lost in your awful 1% minority and are doing everything you can to twist it around. At no point have you even found a remotely accurate comparison.

I actually hope you are not drunk, the level of stupidity really hurts my argument that a little fun drinking doesn't hurt anyone too much.

Hoping this is natural. Chalk it up to genetics, and be grateful I share no relation.

The one n one only makes a difference if a team has played solid D in the second half though. I they're foul happy, the opposition is already in the double bonus when crunch time and the fouls that come with it, happens.

In hockey you get two minutes for a penalty!!! Sometimes 5!!!

Why not basketball as well :noidea:

You know, since we are making illogical sports parallels as if what works for 1 sport automatically makes other sports better.

That's my job

But in seriousness. I can deal with some Doug level stupidity. But this takes it to another level.

No it has not a goddamn thing to do with it. Yet you keep bringing it up.

You keep harping about different outcomes and other bullshit that doesn't matter.

The RELEVANT GODDAMN POINT is that in football they have the option to decline a penalty. PERIOD. That's fucking it. Yes the fucking circumstances are differnet because it's a different goddamn sport you goddamn moron.

Then stupidly you brought up out of bounds whistles and so on?? YOU brought them up. Again, as they had ZERO relevance.

You're the one that brought up stopping the clock you fucking halfwit. YOU DID. What do you think a dead play is? Mother fuck. And this clown shoes is calling my dumb. Bahahahah!!!!!

You have gotten so lost in your awful 1% minority and are doing everything you can to twist it around. At no point have you even found a remotely accurate comparison.

The comparison is fine. You're just using shitty circular logic that boils dawn to "they shouldn't change it because it is the way it is now" which is either stupid or just fucking lazy. Whichever... fuckoff.

"And this clown shoes is calling my dumb"

Yeah this about sums up your intelligence and overall ability to be fluent within the English language.

YOU compared two completely different sports "foul/penalty" guidelines. I stated very correctly why they are fucking completely different...due to football allowing "play to continue". Then you like the dumbass you are(or are you just a wall???) brought up out of bounds whistles as if they had relevance to basketball/football penalty rules. YOU brought up irrelevant points. That is all you have done, it is all you can do.

This stupidity displayed by you is actually impressive. Take that as a compliment and run.

It is truly all you can do at this point.

Oh really grammar nazi? You want to get high and mighty over a fucking typo? Want me to go back and spell check the fucking mockery of the English language you've turned this thread into?

Go fuck yourself.

No. I didn't fucking compare them. You opened that fucking can of worms. I said in football they can decline a penalty. And they can. That was and still is my only point. You can rant and fucking rave until you're blue in the face, but it won't change what was actually said.

And completed explains why football has the overturn option

Yeah... tell me more about how my typos make me look dumb you cherry picking piece of shit.

That could actually be an interesting conversation if asshats like you wouldn't immediately turn the conversation into:

"Derp-a-dur! That would be dumb to do since they don't do that already because it's dumb and they don't do it!!!!! Durrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!"

(You know.. instead of actually judging the idea on it's merits)

I woul like college to go to 4 10 minute quarters with 5 fouls putting you into the penalty. it will speed up the game. I want fouls in the backcourt to be 1 shot and the ball under 2 minutes left in the game. the foul game is a fricken joke and a embarrassment to the game. the college average for free throw shooting last yr was 68% and according to some dude on the radio here in Chicago the average free throw shooting percent in the final 2 minutes of the game was 53%. the 1 and 1 is rewarding fouling

From the person who cherry picks the middle of a sentence haahahahhaha. If you are going to insult someone's intelligence...make sure you do properly construct the sentence dumbass.

"Clown shoes" also while not grammatically incorrect...who name calls clown shoes? LOL.

You are the one that looks pretty blue in the face lol. The troll is being exposed, badly. Again, you should actually feel good about yourself....this level of stupidity is impressive.

comparing football/basketball rules and then referencing out of bounds in basketball to sway your point. Classic stupidity with no real argument.

Really, this is truly astounding.

And the stats you provide prove why it should stay. If these kids can't hit a 1 and 1 it is pathetic as you state.

I would be open to your fouls in the back court rule. That is something that could work nicely.

I don't really like the quarters though. Two halves is good for college and wouldn't speed it up a whole lot more anyways. The 4th qtr would still be the same. You just wouldn't have guys automatically going to the line to start the 3rd/4th but add in the media timeouts between qtrs and its more commercial time unless you propose changing the every 4 minute media timeout rule.

Here's the entire "sentence"

And completed explains why football has the overturn option because it has the ability for a more positive out come.

Seriously... WTF is that nonsense?

"Clown shoes" also while not grammatically incorrect...who name calls clown shoes? LOL.

I'll paraphrase that last one for everyone...

"I don't understand a movie reference, so I'm going to make fun of the person who said it!"

Nice work.

comparing football/basketball rules and then referencing out of bounds in basketball to sway your point. Classic stupidity with no real argument.

Again, I'm not comparing the rules. I simply stated the rule exists in football. I used it as an example for dumb-fucks like you that can't seem to grasp the concept on it's own. Clearly the example was a little too much for that gray matter to handle and it sent you careening off into some fucking fantasy land where you're imagining all sorts of shit that I didn't say.

Knock it off with the straw men if you want to be taken seriously.

I stated my position. I explained why I held that position and I've defended it with reason and logic. Thus far you've ignored all of that and chosen to attack me, and attack arguments that I never made.

I never once suggested that basketball should adopt any rules because they do the same thing in football. I suggested that basketball should adopt a new rule because the current one encourages poor sportsmanship and I gave an example of another sport that has a similar rule. If you'd like to address any of that, knock yourself out. If you're just going to continue with your bullshit circular logic, I'll invite you to go fuck yourself with a garden weasel. (link included since you don't seem to understand any sort of reference to something outside the very narrow scope of the conversation... and evidently most of what is included in the conversation as well. And in case the link didn't make it clear, the idea is that it's large, pointed, and should be rather uncomfortable for you to shove all the way up your ass, presuming your head isn't already in the way)

Change completed to completely, really if you couldn't understand it...you again are a moron.

You are the biggest hypocrite in the world on top of your 1 of a kind stupidity. YOU started the name calling and personal attacks when your idiotic sports correlation didn't fit. Obviously you have never bothered to watch football or you never would have made it in the first place.

I 100% addressed why the two sports have differing rules and why they work for the given sports. Now because you are too stupid, can't read or are just too ignorant(probably a collection of all 3). The entire thing went over your head and you resorted to insults. I of course fired back like the gentleman I am and you really got RATTLED. The troll couldn't handle it...ironic!!!

Of course the hypocritical comments continue when it has thus been you that talks in circles. And you very clearly are showing early stages of Alzheimer's as you cannot ever remember what you posted.

I did what a message board is intended to do. I said exactly why your fantasy land of basketball was completely flawed, illogical and in no way displayed "cheating" and now I guess "lack of sportsmanship?". You lack sportsmanship by trying to win? Sorry, that when someone refutes your outrageous claims you get obnoxiously offended and resort to petty lies to try and wiggle your way out.

But don't try and twist it on me. I showed the flaws, you got offended. It's pretty clear too. But if you are worried you are talking to a "wall" maybe you should look no further then yourself and see where the nonsense is really coming from.

Poor sportsmanship. Ironic, what you are displaying here is a pretty nice form of poor sportsmanship actually.
