Yes, even if Gabbert worked out, they could have developed the QB. Better than drafting a ton of DBs
I agree they should of at least took a QB with in the 1st 4 rds at least.

These guys appear to be the top QBs in the draft that are going to go in the 1st round if you believe the draft stories.

Call it the 'Michael Vick' experience. Everyone gets enamoured by the fact that they have electric ability rushing the ball, and given the massive egos involved, many believe they can take a glorified running back and polish him into a quarterback. There was another kid....I think from Louisville....and I believe I've seen some people at the hoop hyping him up.

Nope....I have never been on board with any of these guys, and now fully gone through the Kaepernick era, I want absolutely nothing to do with any of them. I turned off the Niners/Bills game early because that style of QB sickens me, and I just can't watch both QB's of similar fashion. Give me the pure pocket passer every day over these gimmick kids.

This front office passed on Paxton Lynch, Connor Cook, and Dak Prescott. The only question I ask is...why?!

Are they so incompetent that they thought we were actually in good shape with the idiots we have right now? Why not at least take a chance on someone like Dak and see what happens. No doubt he would be the best QB on our roster right now.

No....I believe they felt none of them were good enough to warrant the pick at the time they held a choice. I also felt that taking the 6th rounder Driskel, and seemingly doing nothing to mold him was a waste. I don't care who is pulling the strings next draft....they can't go another year without truly addressing the quarterback position. They just can't keep ignoring the issue.

As of right now I go with Kizer because of his NFL type body who should be able to take hits, His strong arm, mobility to run. Has a little of accuracy issues. Also starting to question if pressure gets to him. Last game was the worst I have seen from him.

From what I've read, the college game is so much different than the NFL game now that the QBs that are being developed fit that mold you don't like. I agree though and have stated here many times that I don't want to draft another freak athlete project type QB. We need a new GM who is going to be able to find that player in the draft

Keep in mind our team sucks. Even if we drafted Dak, he would not do nearly as well for us as he is for Dallas. Not saying he isn't good, just saying where you start has a lot to do with how good your career will be. I'd think we would ruin any rookie we put back there.

just ask Jerry Rice.

If we go back to before the draft, Kelly's offense seemed suited for BOTH Kaep and Gabbert. Actually, more Gabbert than Kaep, due to the short passing game. So AT THE TIME, i was thinking do draft a QB if good value is there, else don't force it. We should see what these two vets can do in bridging the gap? We KNEW they wouldn't light the NFL on fire, but i'm saying maybe Kelly's offense would allow them to be functional?

i don't think there was good value along the way of this last draft? Didn't think Connor and Lynch was worth where they were picked. We can say Dak Prescott NOW, but were we as SURE before the draft?

Disagree.

There was no reason to think Gabbert was anything better than a stop gap. I don't care what system we're running, we need a franchise quarterback to be successful, value or not.

Dak Prescott was no mystery coming into the draft. Our scouts should have known who he was. This has nothing to do with hindsight being 20/20. This is about at least TRYING to find the right guy. Take a shot on someone and see if he pans out. If they took a shot on Paxton Lynch and he failed, so be it. But our season and near future are sunk because our front office won't even attempt to address the most important position on the field. But we sure do have lots of DBs that were valuable, I guess.

i don't know who the best passer is, but i'd start with him. who can do the progressions, who can get it out with timing, who has the accuracy.

that's what i said, both Gabbert and Kaep were stop gaps, and Kelly's offense seemed to suit both. So there was hope one would function as the stop gap. Right now, neither are even stop gaps.

of course we need a franchise QB, but we can't force one if none are there. This last draft is a good example, there were no good top prospects. goff and wentz were just the best of the class.

again, it is easy to point to Dak now, but you wouldn't have spent a 1st or 2nd on him back in May. BTW - i was saying we should've drafted Dak, right after the draft.

i disagree with "take a shot and see what happens". If this is the case, then we should draft a QB in Rounds 1, 2, and 3....then see what happens?

Yes, obviously. Why the hell wouldn't we want to take a shot on someone like Lynch, Dak, or Cook? Maybe they work or maybe they don't, you never know. I'd rather try to be competitive than continue to ignore the most important position and keep rolling with Dumb and Dumber (Gabbert and Kaepernick).

Accuracy is his weakness right now and holding on to the ball to long.

kaaya is the most polished pocket passer of the big three of watson, kizer, kaaya
QB's: Positives Negatives
Kizer- Has all the tools, NFL type Body and arm Loses Focus,Accuracy issues.
Kaaya- good pocket passer Trouble with Pass rush pressure
Watson- Winner, Athlete, can save plays up and down for me. Off this year with his accuracy
Mitch Trubisky: Very efficent QB. Good NFL body. Not many games under his belt. need to see more.
Chad Kelly: Gun Slinger. Can make all the throws Up and down performance.

These are my Top 5 guys in no order.

Hey we agree on something. Should of took a chance on either Dak, Lynch, or even cook. Also should of took a better prospect at WR. Not wait until the 7th rd.

Yes, i recall Goff and Wentz were not considered franchise prospects, but the best of this class.

Taking a shot means throwing darts, if that is case, no sense having a scouting department. I'm all for drafting a QB, even trading up if we have to, but not for throwing darts at the draft board.

Yet they went 1st and 2nd in the draft? Obviously people believed enough in them that they were willing to make a substantial investment in them.

Take a shot meaning that there will never be a pick that is 100% sure to be a bullseye. I'd rather be the team that drafts the next Ryan Leaf than the team that doesn't even try to find the next Peyton Manning.

I don't fault the FO for not giving up a ton of picks to move up to the No 1 or No 2 spot in order to take Goff or Wentz. Both were considered a work in progress and not top 1st round picks. But the 49ers should have at least looked into taking a QB late 1st round to 4th round instead of taking two DBs in those rounds.

I dont either. I didnt want to move up for those guys but they had a chance at the other QB's. Dak or Lynch.
