Miami did have a very good team but the 1985 game didn't prove much when Tony Casillas (OU's All-America nose tackle) didn't play because of injuries along with Troy Johnson, Darrell Reed and Kevin Murphy who also didn't play. And a little thing like Troy Aikman (who had been 6 of 8 passing with 135 yards) got his ankle broken with 9:18 left in the first half and was lost for the season might have had a significant impact on the game? You think? A few years later I talked to a couple of guys who had played for Miami and they told me they thought OU would have beaten them in 1985 if Oklahoma had had everyone playing healthy but the 1986 game was the one where Miami was obviously the better team.
