you gotta realize though that when you make QB as valuable as they are in superflex/2QB formats and you NEED a QB2, you are basically screwed for the year.[/B]

gotta draft the guys early, just so much harder to get a 2nd one late in the draft, through trade, or the luck of the waiver process after an injury.

who knows, if you draft 3 and your 3rd turns out to be a gem, you could be the one adding a RB1/WR1 for a guy from your bench halfway through the season

Not always. This example is defiantly the exception to the rule. But I was able to win a 14 team SF league last year with only 1 QB in Bortles.

You fell victim to one of the classic blunders.

We had a similar discussion when SteelerPride was asking about a 2-QB league.

Even if it were a 12-team league you need to grab 2 QB.

This may be the exception and not the rule.
Just a guess, but if the league drafted fairly close to a typical redraft league, then it would make sense that most of the teams were fairly even.
In the only 2-QB league that I was involved in (2014), teams that did not draft 2QB in the first 3 rounds did not fair well.

I Have to remember it is dynasty... Those are not the 2 QBs i would have chosen... But i guess Brady is old and Hackenberg is too good...

But seriously, that actually brings up a pretty good question... 2 QB league, you have to over value QBs, but in a dynasty should you focus entirely on the future??

I would have drafted Mariota OR Russell wilson(best young QBs) and then drafted Brady... Yes, brady doesn't have too long left, but he would have given you the elite QB you needed for NOW... and you can draft the best rookie QB available after you drafted all your starting RBs and WRs...

Yeah Brady is old and wasn't in consideration. The way I looked at it was setting up my team for the long run. I do have another SF league that I do have Brady and Carr as my starters. R Wilson went at 2.5. I have owned him in multiple leagues over the years and he's just a frustrating own sometimes.

It's definitely a balance that I don't always get right. I normally do a better job in dynasty football leagues. But that wasn't the case in the D2 league when I kind of got burned by a lot of young WR's last year. Now my one dynasty baseball league this year I didn't do a very good job of it. I went over the top on youth. While my team looks like it's coming together now with some recent call ups. I'm still on the outside looking in on the playoffs at this point. With the other team having me on a H2H tie break. Even though i'm technically in 6th place and he's in 9th.

The biggest problem with drafting in dynasty leagues is that owners focus way too much on the future... You have no clue how long a league is going to last, and you have no clue what will happen in the future... why draft for it?? I think 2 years is enough, if you think a player has 2 more years then draft him... don't forget, you can make trades during the season, and if all goes bad one year, you will have a top pick the next year...

the more i think about it, i think that it was a fatal mistake not drafting Brady...

honestly, what i would do... Wait until the third round... see if Brady is still available... then try to trade David Carr for a third and a 5th round pick... And then snatch up Brady... and you will get one of your picks back...

Milk we had a owner do what you are talking about above. With a limited view of the future and more of a win now mentality. He took Brees and Brady with his first two picks. He will get fantastic play from two QB's for a very limited time. It will be interesting to see how he plays it out. He will surely be a contender for the championship if he can continue drafting well.

one of your flex spots can be QB/RB/WR/TE, opposed to the normal RB/WR/TE or RB/WR that most leagues use for flex spots.

pretty much makes it a 2QB league, but you have options if you can't field 2 quality QBs every week

14 QBs gone in 1st 2 rounds, I think you will be happy to have taken 2 QBs where you did
that pool will be very shallow by the time you pick again
