Redskins’ Swearinger: NFL needs to get rid of Thursday night football games.

The Schedule boys need to make it where a team that plays on Sunday does not then turn around and play on that same Thursday. Its a bit of a back handed compliment. You get a prime time game, but its also likely to be against two good teams and either neither can prepare, or one team is going to get the advantage if they had 12 days off to get ready for the game.

i have a feeling when the next collective bargaining contract needs to be put in place, we might miss a season of football; so much horseshit having taken place since 2011, there's no way that the player union will be willing to capitulate to such terms in the future. And the owners won't have the gall/balls to try and throw replacement players out there and charge a premium price; consumers will be so put-off by such a move that it would essentially be the end of the NFL as we know it.

Agreed...the current schedule set-up is just brutal for the players but, I'm also wondering how far this league is willing to go in delivering its product. First there was Sundays only, Then Monday, now it includes Thursdays. What's next....Saturday or an attempt to take advantage of the well known theme, Friday Night Lights?

I would be cool with that. But if they are going to pimp parity, you cant have scheduling designed to give certain teams advantage. Ditch the bye week, both teams that play on thursday should have played on Sunday. teams playing the catchup game after a thursday night tilt should be on the road in the catch up game.

Yep....there are some very big issues standing in the way of a new CBA. There are already grumblings concerning guaranteed contracts ala the NBA. Eliminating two preseason games in favor of an 18 game season. Kneeling/standing during the military ceremony. Roster expansion and the list goes on and on. I've already resigned myself to doing without the NFL at that time.

BTW: Rule changes further favoring the offense is a game changer for me, as I love good defensive football. I can't imagine what's next in that regard. Perhaps Interceptions not being returned as TD's will result in an offensive possession at the spot of the return once the interceptor re-crosses the original line of scrimmage. SMDH.

How does one get to be on the schedule making committee? You should seriously apply if that's possible.

Yea Im pretty sure you have to be employed by the Giants, Patriots or one of the in crowd teams for that job. And I would sooner appear on Rue Pauls Drag race than work for any of those teams. Then again I couldnt work for the Redskins because the boss might ask me what I really think one day. LOL

Thursday night football is currently a big money maker for the NFL so it isn't going anywhere. I think it is unfair to ask these guys, college kids or whoever to turn aroud and play again 4 days later. The body needs recovery time. If they want to have Thursday night football they need to expand the rosters. I think this back to back Thursday game crap is ludicrous.

yep. i've already gone on record and have said that if they ever dare remove the kickoff from football, i'm done, as much as they've already "neutered" the play. won't give it a second more of my attention or time, and they won't get me back if they hastily try to change it back, once they realize their mistake.

Actually IM glad we got back to back thursday games. But having us play a division game on Thursday after a conference game on Sunday, then another thursday division game.... bit of the shenanigans

I like having games on Thursday; however, they should do away with them for competitive fairness.
