The Sharks are up to their old tricks. Play outstanding hockey for 7 or 8 games, then go to sleep.
Thornton and Marleau have a grand total of 1 goal between them in the last 8 games. And that was the infamous Thornton dump - in that bounced off of Luongo. It was not even a shot on goal.
I don't care what team it is. When two of your top offensive players score one goal in 8 games you don't have much of a chance. I know that Joe really doesn't like to shoot the puck, and Marleau always goes goalless for long stretches, but 1 goal (a fluke) in 8 games!! Not really the stuff of "superstars". And, not showing much "leadership".
Niemi also looks like he is in a funk. He has given up some soft goals in the last few games, and looks tired.
I know that there are other contributing factors to this slump, but I think Joe and Patty are a huge reason. Given their history over the past few years I don't expect anything different.
