When asked about the running back position, coach Jay Gruden "acknowledged" Matt Jones is "still on the roster" but "didn't have much good to say about him."

Meanwhile, Gruden used all of his breath propping up Rob Kelley and praising third-down back Chris Thompson and former UDFA Mack Brown, suggesting he doesn't see a tremendous need at the position. Jones is likely battling for a roster spot this summer, and right now appears to be on the outside looking in. Once/if the Redskins add another back, Jones could be a goner.

Yep SM sucked. You are such a genius that they probably should have hired you - you need to network a little better. Thanks for the info & please keep posting these "I told you so" type replies. Why bother moving on when you can always dwell on the past.

Matt Jones = should have been used as a WR from day 1.

socal, I already proved we would have been better off if I was the GM the last two years. SM was the only GM in the nfl that had Jones over Johnson on his board. You want to argue this?

Quoted from Daniel Snyder's future autobiography.

17-14-1, Division title, Back-to-Back winning seasons.
FYI: Brandon Scherff is an OT that was converted to G. We never drafted a OG at #5, after using Scherff in camp at RT, he was better suited at OG. OT at #5 is common, some OT go #1 overall over DE, OLB, ILB.
This should never be argued again, an OG was never taken 5th overall.
Why SM wanted MJ over DJ when Jones was subpar in college, perhaps that was his one huge mistake early in his tenure here. Other than that, it seems despite being handcuffed SM was turning the team around.

Every analyst and GM said he would be a OG in the pros. Don't give me that crap that he was a LT. The knock on him was he had slow footwork that is why he had to move inside to OG.

We never drafted an OG at 5, I don't understand why people allowed themselves to even get into that argument.
He was drafted to play RT, not sure where the LT claim is coming from?
Again plenty of OT go in the top 5 of an draft. You are bringing in irrelevant material to a "OG being drafted at 5"

WEAKNESSES
Plays too tall and needs to drop anchor more consistently. Heavy on his feet and tends to bend at the waist. Lethargic shifting his weight -- stressed by speed and quickness and cannot recover when beaten. Limited hip snap and is not sudden or explosive. Does not breathe fire -- plays smaller than his size in the run game and does not seek to bury defenders. Weight has fluctuated and conditioning needs to be monitored closely. Recorded the slowest 10-yard split (2.08 seconds) of any participant at the combine and tied for the lowest vertical jump (21 1/2 inches) among all offensive linemen.

OH wait, my bad... I pulled the draft wrap on the greatest RT to ever play the game there.

Sorry about that.

OK. What you & other people like you fail to acknowledge is what it is like actually being in that organization. It is not as simple as you appear to portray it. We have no idea about what pressure and feedback SM received from Snyder, Allen, Gruden & others.

Lots of folks like to believe that they can easily do someone else's job when viewing it from the outside. However - actually trying to perform that job can be a completely different matter. Also - as pointed out in this thread - the results were pretty good so your constant complaints about SM fall a little short (& if as you always like to argue this was mainly due to Allen's picks then why did they even hire SM in the 1st place).

I find it amusing that many fans believe that they would do a better job being an NFL coach or GM then the folks who actually have those jobs. I truly believe that they would be in for a very rude awakening if this were to actually occur. I am not stating that all NFL coaches & GMs are good or qualified - just that the job is a lot harder than folks probably realize. You need to come back to reality. Yes - you have made some good predictions but that doesn't mean that NFL teams should be contacting you soon about possible openings.

Appreciate the offer, but I will be tied up at that time - have fun. I also freely admit that I am no expert in either predictions or evaluating college players (don't watch college enough to have valid opinions). Also - given the choice between the NFL draft & the Caps-Pens playoff game I will take the latter.
