Things I Do Not Understand

I get it, people in the football business laugh at message board posters. And they should, they are the professionals and we overreact to what took place last Sunday.

With that said here is what I don't understand. As soon as the Lauvao signing was announced everyone trashed the move. I had never seen the guy play and instantly knew it was a mistake after hearing from Browns fans. As I said earlier you know it's bad when a Browns fan is laughing at you. Sure enough this signing has been a disaster.

Next we have Darren Sproles. A lot of us on the old board have been screaming at the need to add a 3rd down speed back for years. Sproles' name came up often, he has always been one of my favorite players in the league. When he went to a divistion rival for a 5th rounder we all went WTF????? Why weren't we the team bidding a 5th?

Finally we have the safety position. A number of us didn't want to invest the cap space in Byrd but liked Mitchell from Carolina. Pittsburgh got a very solid player who has played well with a very team friendly deal while our GM is standing pat with Wrong Way Rambo, a guy who can't stay clean, and another guy who is always hurt.

It's not a good thing when we appear to know more than the guy who is supposed to be making these key decisions.

i dont know , i dont think lavou is playing too badly . he would be one guy i would keep to this point

i dont know how much cap space we had and i know they went the special teams route in FA . so far that hasnt earned us much

we will have good cap space the next few years so hopefully we will be able to fill holes better

Have you been watching Lauvao? He is no better than what we had. I get it, 26 year old Russ Grimms do not come available. But they gave a lot of money and handed the starting spot to a bad offensive lineman.

We had interest in Sproles. Gruden wanted him. I was for getting Sproles and thought a 5th round pick was basically nothing to get that kind of player. But of course people disagreed with me and said that a 5th round pick was more valuable than Sproles.


Bottom line here is that Gruden wanted him but Allen didn't get him.

Lauvao has been playing pretty well the guy that needs to go is Polumbus if he is still starting we are doomed

Lauvao has not been playing well. He has with regularity been pushed back into the pocket. We did overpay for a second rate player. He should be no more than a backup in this league.

Those in the business can laugh at us but that doesn't mean we're wrong. My fellow Jets fans and I were SCREAMING the cornerbacks were going to kill us and even if Milner got better we were way too thin. 26 mil under the cap so it seems Rodgers-Cromartie or Revis was a no brainer. The Jets kept the cash and they're getting TORCHED every week in the secondary. Not a single int even though they have a solid pass rush

Do not confuse outplaying Polumbus with playing well. Lauvao has not come close to living up to that contract, this is common knowledge.
