Big fan. Deacon Blues is one of my fantasy BB team's name and that is the avi I use for them.

I sometimes use the cover of Aja as my avi here.

I've seen them a bunch of times, most notably when they played Aja in its entirety at the Wang Theater in Boston. I had awesome seats, here's the view from them:

I think "is" is appropriate. I don't see Fagan releasing any new material as Steely Dan, but they are touring this summer.

The characters and/or situations in their songs are often sketchy. Pretty clever lyrics, too.

As far as I'm concerned, theirs is the most sophisticated pop music ever recorded.

I studied at Berklee for a minute in the mid 90's, and one of my favorite professors was a HUGE Steely Dan fan, so I took up a collection and we got him a couple tickets to see them at Great Woods Amphitheater.
