Matt Ryan is one Super Bowl away from being a HoFer himself. Gotta have a QB on this league. That's why what Denver did last year was so amazing

Manning is a Hall of Fame QB ... People act like he was some kinda scrub, sure he declined from previous seasons but the dude is as prepared and as smart as they come... Denver had a good defense this year also, but without Manning things were different...

True. Even if his skills had diminished his mental preparation was unparalleled

He needs a much more substantial playoff history. As it stands now, he has 6 playoff starts and a grand total of 2 wins.

@rmilia1 is right here imo...it's a stats league...imo Matt does need a ring to really jump into a serious HOF conversation, but doesn't need 9 or 10 playoff wins.

Matt Ryan HoF, even after winning a Super Bowl is premature. Please don't compare him to Brees.

He may get there since he's still young, but he has to string a few more years together like this one.

Not comparing them now. I'm saying that's the most likely comp at the end of his career. Or he wins 3 rings in the next 7 years and he's a top 5 all timer OR he never wins one and he's a poor man's Marino. I'm talking the most probable though

I prefer the sport which is arguably the most team oriented, to be far less one position oriented. The game has never been as QB centric as it is now.

As others have said, QB has always been, by far, the most important position on the field .... at least as long as any of us has been following the game. What changes would you make to devalue the position ?

Yes, one of the best regular season QB's around. He really needs another SB win to put him in a different class than say, Brad Johnson.

aaron Rodgers surpassed brad Johnson's "class" many moons ago, my friend, even if he finishes his career with just the one superbowl win.

Joe Montana, Jim Kelly, John Elway, Dan Marino, Steve Young, Troy Aikman, Warren Moon, Brett Favre, Ken Stabler are the last 9 QB inductees.

I guess Ryan can hope to "Moon" his way into the HOF, but I just don't see it happening. Everyone else certainly has a substantial postseason resume.

If we think Brees is a lock and I do...Matt need to stays on his current path for another 6 yrs, if so, he will be in the 60k+ range for yds...380 to 400 TDs...I think he'll be closer to Marino than Moon. If he doesn't get a ring it will be harder to get in, but those numbers will get him a lot of votes.

I mean if you compare Him and Tom the only difference was the injuries. I think Tom plays another 3 years and Peyton would still be tossing balls.

Marino has 18 playoff game appearances and 8 wins. At his current pace, Ryan will get there sometime around age 67.

Playoff wins are largely irrelevant unless they lead to rings. Marino is in the HOF because of stats not because he was 8-10 in playoff games

For the last 4 decades, the NFL has repeatedly implemented rules in favour of the passing game. As I stated, it got to a point in the mid-70's when the game IMO, was far too defensive-oriented. It doesn't matter what I'd do, because the rules were put in place to protect QB's and make fans happy with pinball/fantasy numbers.

LOL.

This conversation is fruitless if you think Marino got in for his 18 playoff appearances and 8 wins...lol

You do understand that this is simply your opinion, right? An opinion that happens to fit your Matt Ryan agenda perfectly.

He has a substantial playoff resume. So do all the others with the exception of Moon (who is the only one Ryan can catch at his pace).

If you want to laugh it off and consider it being some sort of coinky-dink, have at it.

WTF? I bet You were high when you typed this. Matt Ryan has had one HOF type season and that was this year. Other than that he's been statistically ok and a playoff failure with the lowest playoff winning % of all QB's before last Saturday. One season doesn't make a player a HOF player.

Sorry Matty

Wow, no elite QB = no SB appearance unless you have an all time great defense I guess.
