Since 2002 when the patriots won their first super bowl, look at who the AFC representative in the super bowl had had at quarterback

Yet Peyton won his 2 Super Bowls with defense as did Ben's first trip for the most part.

Generally you need a defense AND a QB

He will finish top 5-10 in every conceivable QB stat by the time his career is over. Just entering his prime now and already in the top 20 in most. If he wins a SB with those stats he's a lock much like Brees is a lock

He needs a much more substantial playoff history. As it stands now, he has 6 playoff starts and a grand total of 2 wins.

Well he's got 7 or 8 years left and like I said he needs to win A SB. If he does that and makes the playoffs even half the time his next 8 years he will be a lock easy. I know you frown on dome QBS but it is what it is. Stats and Super Bowls get you in the Hall

A pansy PI called on the Cowboys saved his ass last night. That pick should have been game over right then and there.

It was a D hold at minimum. The Boys DBs were grabbing receivers when they made their break all night. They got called on it a couple of times. That one was obvious.

He has this year and 2012 as great years and 2 playoff wins and you are talking about him like he is right on the cusp of the HOF.

He has a long way to go.

It's just common sense. If he plays 7 more years and averages the numbers he's averaged sp far he will end up as one of the best statistical QBS ever. Just the way it is. Add on a SB and he will be a lock. Guy is onlyv31. People think he's old or something. Plenty of time and his team is young so they'll be really good the next 5vyears

I'd probably say he has at least a 50% chance but its way early on to be talking about this. He only has 1 first team All Pro.

Yeah way too early. Also I'm so sick of people on here acting like it is some lock their team is going to be great for the next 5 years

Oh sure. If he never played another down he's not getting in. I'm just extrapolating his numbers based on his career so far and realizing he's got a lot of time left. The numbers are going to happen unless he gets hurt. That means he needs a SB. Ryans career will likely end up very Brees like numbers wise. Just needs the ring

All I'm saying is I remember Falcons' fans penciling him in for the HOF in 2012. He then fell off the map for 3 years. He needs to be a consistently great QB which is something he hasn't been able to accomplish thus far.

It might be different if he had some playoff success to fall back on, but he doesn't have that either.

Well it is easier to get a good quarterback and receivers than it is to assemble 1985 Chicago Bears type defense.

Or last season's Broncos defense.

It's too quarterback-oriented for my liking, but I get it with the casual fan being more interested. With the league set up as it is, passing has never been easier in NFL history than it is today. Coupled that with the salary cap and free agency, that one position determines wins and losses moreso now than ever before....and I don't think that's good.
I'll bet you liked it when the Niners had Joe Montana and Steve Young as their starting QB's.

Look at the final 2 QBs on the AFC side by year. It's Brady every year.

I prefer the sport which is arguably the most team oriented, to be far less one position oriented. The game has never been as QB centric as it is now.

NFL rules favor the offense.

Yes....and the product I find suffers from it, just as it did about 40 years ago when it was defensively dominant.
Then why are ratings up over the past 20 years?
