Depends on who you talk to I guess. Last time I heard a conversation about team’s past accomplishments they attributed Houston Oilers to Houston Texans rather than linking those with the titans.

i would say if owner stayed the same same team regardless of name or location

rams are rams
raiders are raiders
colts are colts
chargers are chargers
jazz are jazz
titans are oilers


texans are not oilers or titans
they are a new team

actually this is easy to solve
no two teams in any of the 4
major professional sports have the same nickname so can we say no two teams can have the same nickname in the same sport. yes or no?

on the other hand you can have the same city have multiple teams in the same sport. yes or no

if yes to both them city is not unique enough but nickname is .

new york vs baltimore yields 2 potential games
colt vs jet yields one and one one game

therefore city cannot be used to answer this question

I'm still mad about the Super Bowl following the 1977 season. Early in the game - the Broncos stripped Staubach of the ball deep in the Cowboy's zone and the officials did not call a fumble. I think in the replay era - that might have been overturned. Otherwise the Cowboys really made some impressive catches to earn the victory, but if the Bronco had gotten up early in the game - it would have been a much different game.
