I guess I'm in the minority on this episode. Sure, it wasn't one to write home about, but I didn't find it terrible, either. It introduced a new community, and let us know that what our group did to the satellite compound had a deep impact on other groups.

This. Ain't no PC debate here. It is about the ridiculousness of the situation. She washes up on shore, takes a couple swigs of water, then suddenly (and silently, mind you!) she is tracking her prey like Shanna the freakin' She-Devil.

Man, you can only suspend disbelief so far.

You mean that beached Whale at the beginning of the episode was Tara? I had trouble figuring out what was going on for the first 10 minutes, had to check to see if I was watching Animal Planet or AMC.

/Rant off for those who actually liked this episode. :dhd:

He took the women but they skipped out.

he did? I thought he left them to serve/provide for him in their community ... ie just like the other communities he ruled over with an iron fist ...and the women ended up abandoning that community for oceanside

he didnt take the women back to his "headquarter" community did he ? or did i miss something ?

I don't mind this season so far but I know a lot of people are hating it. Last night might have been the biggest mistake yet. An entire episode focusing on Tara? I don't mind the group spreading out and having several different story lines going on simultaneously at all, but I think they should cut back on episodes devoted to one particular story, which is basically all they've been doing this whole season so far. I think they should maybe do it a bit more Game of Thrones style where they bounce around between characters and locations. That way a little bit of Tara over a few episodes to help build towards an eventual payoff wouldn't seem as painful as an entire episode.

Not sure if it's true or not but I heard the actors on the Walking Dead get paid per episode in which they appear, and that is a big reason why they've been using this format.

Exactly what I've said countless times.

It way better to focus a little on each group each episode rather than just keep doing large individual episodes.

Hilltop shoulda been piece of episodes 2-6. Not all of episode 5.

Yeah that's probably more accurate although I'm sure some were taken as booty, so to speak.

They got to build these episodes so you got something to look forward to when "All Out War" comes.
I don't think anyone argues that these (the last two, in particular) are filler episodes building up to the war. But focusing on a character everyone either forgot about or didn't care about in the first place is a questionable strategy. And ratings have really begun to show that viewers are getting fed up with the bottle-episode format.

At this point, I wonder if the show will last long enough to get to the Whisperers, let alone Beta...

I thought her new found friend was cute.

So there is that.

You wonder if they'll take part in the upcoming rebellion against Neegan. That could be fun.
They have the armory. There is no question they will be big players in the war.

If there's one character that needs tp get his comeuppance it's Neegan.
He was actually way too merciful.

Rick and company killed approximately 60 of Negan's men. In return, Negan only killed 2 of Rick's men (3 if you count Denise).

For Rick to fold the way he has shows that he has no balls whatsoever. He did the right thing to fold while in the lineup. There was nothing he could do in that situation. But to take Negan's cock in his mouth, and then say "thank you" afterwards?

Ridiculous.

I'm surprised Heath wasn't killed off for sure instead of leaving it as a question, because actor Corey Hawkins has the lead role in the new 24 series on FOX, and probably won't have much time, if any, to commit to TWD.

Well, he disappeared again after about 10 minutes on screen, so... We may not see him again until there is not hope and he rides in with the Rohirrim to save the day like Gandalf!

Odds are, it will be a flop. Fox drama's tend to not last very long. 24 was definitely an exception.

I think the show will be fine. Yes, this past episode drew a 4 year low, but it still drew a 4.9 rating among the key demographic. The next best show? Talking Dead, which drew a 1.7 rating among the key demographic. Hell, even the previous week's Walking Dead drew a 0.9, which was good enough for 5th for the night.
