I've been thinking about Negan and whether or not his character is believable, as well as whether or not that should affect my enjoyment of this season. At the end of the day, this is a series based on a comic book so a supervillain really isn't all that farfetched. Negan may be a little over-the-top douche, and he probably should have experienced a mutiny or two by now, but in terms of being a villain; he is a great.

I know a lot of people love this portrayal of Negan, but I am not a fan. They needed a much larger and imposing figure.

I can't argue. But they had to make changes to the character. No way they could use his vocabulary, so they needed to get a super-charismatic actor who could convey they same fever without all the fuckity-fucks.

Also, his look in the comics is unreal. His head is freakishly large. His shoulders are bigger than a football player while wearing his pads. They had to take a different take here.

Now, if they get a 5'8" actor to play Beta, THEN I will be pissed...

I still dont get Negan. It seems like the simple cut off the head and the body will follow with his whole army not standing up if Negan was killed. Its almost like the bigger story would be for Rick to kill Negan and run his crew. Woosification of America and pussification of Rick. To me Negan is not believable because he would have stormed that town by now.

I did see an interesting comment about Daryls blinking being Morse code to Rick.

Neegan is the personification of why the 'group' tries to be ethically good. Neegan is why ruling through fear and intimidation isn't a long term answer. Because somebody is always going to eventually get sick of being afraid.

History is full of sociopaths who have a run in the sun by being the biggest badass in the neighborhood. But eventually people realize that a badass's skull caves in with a pipe wrench just like anyone else's.

Some speculation going around that there are guns buried in Maggie's "grave". The theory I heard seems to think that Rick is on it. That's the only part I don't buy. I could possibly see Gabriel either acting alone or perhaps with Aaron and Eric as they seemed to be upto something.

Not a comic reader, but I think JDM is getting the point across quite well... No, we don't see how an average sized dude comes to power, but I think he pulls off a charismatic sociopathic genius role here that certainly makes me understand why people don't cross him...

Half of what he says produces nervous laughter as it would be funny in any other situation... Not sure I remember a character that pulled that combo off... Humorous and downright scary at the same time.

Works for me.

You guys haven't heard? Gimple has an 'all morse code' episode coming up. One hour of the gang blinking at each other.

Internet speculation as to what they were blinking about will be at an all time frenzy. ;)

In all seriousness, I think the morse code thing is pretty cool. Did not notice it at all.

I also like the speculation about the guns being buried in Maggie's "grave". Certainly makes perfect sense.

Neither did I... I remember seeing it on the wall, but as usual, I just thought to myself, "Huh, wonder what that's for?" and then forgot it ever existed... LOL!!!
