Best post-apocalyptic book ever is The Stand by Steven King. It is OMG good. 1000+ pages, and the first 100 or so are slow, but it picks up and you can't put it down.
Great book. I had listed the tv mini-series on another thread here as one of my favorites to watch but it truly didn't do the book justice.

I actually liked the mini-series.

It was low-budget, but it was pretty close to the book.

I heard that they originally wanted to make a theatrical release movie, but King said he would not do it if he only had 2 hours. He wanted todo something similar to what they are doing now with Under the Dome (a full season) but he couldn't sell that, so he got 8 hours instead, but with a small budget.

Given that story, I think they did a GREAT job with it.

Considering the length of that novel ,I would have to agree. Not sure how anyone could fit that into 2 hours. King also needs his cameo appearance in his movies so extra time is needed!

Not only his movies. He at least mentions himself in many of his books. Heck, he was a full-fledged character in the Dark Tower books.

I just re-watched S2 last week, and started re-watching S3 this weekend.

While S2 was slow, it was very under-rated. Fun times re-watching...

I like the show it doesnt piss me off its only Sunday Night Football. It pisses me off the Dexter and Breaking Bad are being Cancelled so I will need a new show to fill the Void.

Neither Dexter nor BB were cancelled. They are both ending on their own accords.

True you got me on a technicality there. They decided to end it themselves still wont be on next season.

I think they were both over-due for endings, though. BB should have ended when they killed Fram and Dexter should have ended after S3 (or so).

There are still plenty of top-notch shows on TV, though. Mad Men, GoT, SOA, TWD, Orphan Black, Doctor Who, and to lessor extents The Bridge, Wilfred, Archer, American Idol...

OK, maybe I got a little carried away there at the end...

The marathon begins this Monday 8:00 pm est. starting with the first episode. I've seen them before but always dvr them to watch again. It is fun to go back to the beginning and see how the new season came to be. I still wonder why they chose the prison over the town to keep everyone. A nice bed in a home vs a prison bunk....no thank you.

I appreciated S2 much more the second time that I watched it. There was a lot of good character development.

S3 had the best episode so far: Clear. I thought Lennie James as Morgan was amazing in that episode.

I can't wait for S4!

I have Compendiums 1 and 2. Is Volume 17: Something to Fear the next book I need to get? I think Compendium 2 goes through volume 16. I need to look into this when I get home. Almost done with Compendium 2, so I'll need some more quality reading material sooner than later.

I'm not into those, so I'm not sure..... I'm referring to Robert Kirkman's trilogy
1. The Rise of the Governor --2011
2. The Road to Woodbury -- 2012
*3. The Fall of the Governor -- 2013...(due next week)

*btw: there's a short story (Just Another Day at the Office) only available in e format you can download for .99¢ and of course the graphic novels....

I don't follow the comics or any books..I know they tend to differ from the series. I just got notice that they have new webisodes that I do watch...going to look at them right now.

The compendiums are just a compilation of all the comics. Is the trilogy novel format or more comics?
