I'll be honest, I am kinda tired of it.........and it doesn't seem like something that I'm used to Husker fans doing. Since the end of last season though, I have heard more and more people bashing the kid for his attitude and drama from last season.........saying they wish he'd just get the fuck outta here and all this other garbage.
That doesn't remind me of the Husker fans of old. Don't forget that the kid was a teenager last year, with a daddy at his side who probably was the cause for all that drama. Don't forget Bo Pelini is a fucking man among men, and I'll bet you over the offseason he had a nice little talk with the kid and let him know none of this drama will be occurring this upcoming season.
Aren't any of you rooting for the kid to grow up and change his attitude? Doesn't anyone like to see a kid turn into a man and lead a team to championships? I like Brion Carnes just as much as the next guy, but I don't give a shit if Bo Pelini's dog ends up QBing this team to a championship......whoever wears a Husker helmet, they get my support. And Taylor Martinez took all the bashing that he got and continues to receive, and he stayed here because as he said, he wants to win championships at Nebraska. I like him.
You want to know my problem with Taylor?

Do I like to see young men grow up and win championships? Yes, but I also didn't loose any sleep over Cody Green's transfer because niether him nor Taylor are championship-caliber QBs in my OPINION. Martinez is a great athlete, he demonstrated that last year. Unfortunately, he demonstrated a few other things:
A. He throws like a girl, yeah I remember the okie st game, but the longer the season went on, the more that game seemed to be an anomaly for both Watson and Taylor. And from what I saw in spring practice he doesnt seem to have improved much if at all(I didnt see every practice)
B. Poor attitude, it's easy to say "ok everything is all better now" but until the shit hits the fan (conference play 2011) we have no idea if his mind is in the right place
C. His reads sucked to put it mildly, if his #1 guy was covered he tried to beat the entire defense to the corner...in other words he had ZERO pocket presence, and once again I haven't noticed much imrovement this spring(from what i have seen)
D. He is injury-prone, his style of play alone makes him very vulnerable, look at Michael Vick who has mastered the art of being a speedy QB--he is constantly taking big shots and suffers a significant injury almost every season
Bottom line: I trust BO and CO and I'll live with whoever they think is ready to start. Im not out to bash anyone, if I saw Martinez on the street today I would still give him a pat on the back, but I have absolutely no problem voicing my discontent with him or any player/coach for that matter...I almost feel like it is my right considering how much money i've spent at that university. I just hope that my discontent is never mistaken for contempt because that would certainly be uncalled-for.
