This offseason I am intending on doing an ongoing poll rankings of all the expected starting QBs. Our previous poll had Russell Wilson (12) beating out Big Ben (8) and Andrew Luck (6).

I know as the fifth poll, this seems long. You don't need to be in it for the long haul, just vote when you can. The offseason is long and I will space it out. There will come a time where it doesn't matter so I will group, but we'll go as far as we can.

Question: Who is the sixth best QB in the league?

Here are the parameters:

This is just for this coming year. Age can matter as far as current abilities and experience, etc., but don't choose a young QB over Peyton Manning because so and so is younger and can offer more years. Just base it upon who they are now. If younger means better, sure. Otherwise, it's irrelevant.

Assume that each QB is in the optimal system with an equal level of talent around them (average everywhere) and coaching. If the current QB of a team does not fit in their current system or on a bad team, imagine them in the right system and average team.

So, please vote.

So far the list is:

1. Aaron Rodgers
2/3. Peyton Manning
3/2. Tom Brady
4. Drew Brees
5. Russell Wilson
6. This poll.

In the poll, the parenthesis is the number of SBs or the year they went to their respective conference championship game.

I combined Romo and Stafford because they didn't have recent postseason success. Yes, that is a team issue, not just QB. I just didn't want to remove anyone who made it to NFCC/AFCC or later until next poll or so.

Yes, I know, people can go  on where RW is. If you do, I hope you voted. Otherwise, I don't know what to do. :/

I have no personal issue with it. He's the most recent SB winner, young with a good coach for him.

Some heads are gonna explode now that Russell Wilson secured the 5 spot.

There are a lot of Niners, Seahawks, Patriots, and Steeler fans on the SportsHoopla. There was one more big group, but they mainly stay on their own board and not come to the main one. Ideally there would be an equal number of fans from every team on the main board, but that would never happen. Bias works for and against certain players. I feel that some people look at the results of the poll before voting and vote for the second-place if they don't like the first place quarterback.

Naw, but seeing that listed there might just push a few people away from continuing to contribute.

The reality is there would be someone butt hurt no matter how this goes down. Could have been half a dozen other guys and someone would still be outraged. Kind of the nature of these.

How does Wilson even crack the top eight?

If this were a legitimate poll from experts around the country and they voted him #5; I'd probably bash whatever device it was that showed me that shit, to itty bitty pieces.

Demographics of SportsHoopla and defense. Winning the most recent SB and winning it so early in his career helps. Same way Big Ben is so high on the votes in this poll series. There are a lot of Steelers, Seahawks, Niners, and Patriots fans on SportsHoopla.

Prepare to bash your device into itty bitty pieces.

Bleacher Report had a 5 man panel do their top rankings at each position for last season. Russell Wilson ranked 3rd amongst all QBs. I don't agree with everything on their list but it does highlight the fact that it isn't just Seahawk fans who are beginning to see Wilson as an elite QB.

The panel broke down and scored each QB in several areas:

  • Accuracy
  • Arm Strength
  • Decision Making
  • Mechanics
  • Mobility
  • Overall
Wilson scored a 92 out of 100

You can see their results here: B/R NFL 1000: Top 65 Quarterbacks | Bleacher Report

Russel Wilson is the 5th best QB in the league?

The fuck is going on around here?

Although that might not be as bad as Matt Ryan getting 3 votes :L

Bleacher Report? Lol

Discount them if you want, but they aren't Seahawk fans. Stay in denial if you like but Russell Wilson has made his way into the conversation for top 5QB in football. The poll on this site mirrors what other sites (not just bleacher report) have said.

He's not top 10...yet. He's on his way, though.
