Well, Gale Sayers never played in a playoff game, and going by what happened this season, neither has Hillman

I think Malik will get top dollar. NFL teams are seeing the blueprint by Elway and others that you need that push up the middle to not only get pressure in the qb's face but to also give your edge rushers and db's advantages. Guys like Malik are the popular remedy to have a SB type D like Denver to compliment and utilize the rest of the talent you have. I have no doubt whatsoever that Malik is going get paid above that 55 mil deal and it won't be Denver. He's a hot commodity in NFL thought process right now. Kiss Malik goodbye.![]()
I don`t think it has as much to do with the locker room Cd as it has to do with "results " and winning formula. Been hearing a lot lately when discussing Malik and Denver, that teams are viewing how Denver`s D was able to really dominate compared to almost every team and the consensus by all was the strength of their interior line. It set up the outside rush rush as well as helped the db`s. (That does not need further explanation) The top Qbs or any qb for that matter, hate to see someone in their face and not be able to step up in pocket. It`s the ultimate solution to throw qb`s off their game. There`s always a new "blue print " teams look at after every SB to see what was the reasons for the champs success. Von and company including Denver`s secondary would not have been near as successful if Denver`s interior line was`nt such a force to deal with. To me anyway, it`s very obvious and makes a hell of a lot of sense anyway. That`s what area teams are going to try and improve on in this draft and going forward. Anybody surprised of all the attention defensive interior line is getting in this draft? Don`t just say it`s such a deep class as the only reason as is being reported by many, it`s because supply and demand is going up ladies and gents and it`s the popular remedy for a SB defense. What always amazes me is how much teams are so willing to overpay for players that were on the Super Bowl winning team. I know the idea is that they will bring that same type of attitude to the new locker room and shows guys what it takes but to me NFL Super Bowl winning teams don't let the true core guys go that really set the tone for the locker room unless they are much much older. I really do like Malik and hope he is back but I do view him as a complimentary piece not really the main piece. He will do well for whatever team he plays for but I do think he will find it much tougher wherever he goes to have the success that he did in Denver or that fans because of his huge contract will have unrealistic expectations. Such as he wants to be paid close to what JJ Watt is making from what I understand on a per year basis. Well Watt averages something like 15 sacks a season where Malik is more of a 5-7 sack kind of guy. Fans will see Watt's numbers and go "well we are paying our guy like Watt why isn't he producing like Watt?"
Another thing to consider is who is around Malik. By no means am I calling him a scrub but what team that can afford to pay him JJ Watt money is going to have a Von, D Ware, Ray, Barrett, Sly...etc type front seven around himWhat always amazes me is how much teams are so willing to overpay for players that were on the Super Bowl winning team.
