ESPN's John Keim reports the Redskins may not be willing to meet free agent ILB Zach Brown's asking price.

The Redskins want to keep Brown but there's a "decent gap" in contract talks between the sides. After settling for a prove-it deal, Brown is looking to cash in coming off another strong season. Brown could push for $7 million annually.

Dear Redskins. Stop giving young players prove it 1 year deals. That is all.

Bruce Allen has to be one of the stupidest mf's in NFL front-office history. Why does this man continue to be employed?

That’s too bad. I really liked their song “Chicken Fired”.

Sooooooooo we are just supposed to accept the fact Bruce might let the two most productive players on offense and defense walk in the same off-season after letting two 1,000 yard Wrs go in the previous off-season?

This while the Eagles have already locked up Jeffery, and have Wentz, Peters, and Sproles returning next year.

Are we even trying to win anymore or has Dan just thrown in the towel and decided this is no more than a money grab at this point?

Zach Brown headlines Redskins non-Kirk Cousins free agent decisions

Hmm - pretty big gap between 2.3 & 10+ M / year. I like Brown but he is not the absolute best at his position so not sure if he is worth absolute top $$ so in all honesty this one is a bit tricky (as mentioned in the article). This is one where I would not just blast the FO - this is a decision you have to consider carefully unless there is some compromise.

BTW - I also don't blame Brown for trying to get top $$ - either w/ the Redskins or some other team.

What our solution will be is to spend the 8 we could have given Zach and go go sign 3 scrubs at 2.67 a pop. Hope I'm wrong.

Did the math. The money we spent on McGee, McClain, Pryor and an extension of RK could have gotten PG and DJ signed.

Kerrigans extension was a solid move. McClain and McGhee were solid signings.. as backups.

Where they screwed the pooch was letting both Jackson and Garcon go and thinking Pryor was the answer. I was a fan of keeping Baker (think he would have improved under Tomahawk), sign one of the MCGuys, and we should have kept Garcon or Jackson..... then let the Pryor experiment play out.

I was on record for bringing them both back. Yeah, I heard they were a pain in the ass in the lockeroom and in the huddle, but Ryan Grant became our playmaker and Pryor either dropped go routs or short armed slants.

With what we had on offense all we had to do was be average on defense. Now we are sitting here trying to rebuild both sides of the ball again.

Make no mistake, this team was close. Philly is in the bowl. We swept them last year and played them tough twice this year.

There is a chance that Baker returns since things have not gone well for him in TB. I guess I can understand them getting rid of Jackson and/or Garcon, but it sounds like they didn't even talk to them about the chance of returning & God knows that Pryor didn't work out (& sounds like he is going back to CLE).

Again w/ Brown I love the guy & want him to return just no sure he is worth 10+ M / year. Hopefully they can meet somewhere in the middle.
