They led NO 38-13 and played the 4th with backup defensive guys and yes they were 6-4 after they lost to Philly . Atlanta steamrolled every NFC team they played late in the year . The NO game was the only game they didn't win by 17 plus and that was solely a function of being ahead by 4 TDs going into the 4th
Ok? Dallas had two losses by 4 combined points and another when they rested all of their starters. You can't just discount losses because they don't fit the narrative.

I'm not discounting losses . Earlier in they year Atlanta was just ok . The last part of the year they bludgeoned everyone and if it weren't for 1 bad quarter in the SB they'd have bludgeoned NE too . That said this is about the NFC and it was clear at years end Atlanta was the best team in the conference . Same with Carolina in 15. Those are actually 2 of only 5 or 6 years in the last decade where the best team won the conference

Just another whine by a butt hurt Saints fan.

Look, we get it, the ball bounces funny sometimes, and refs make mistakes. Move on.

Atlanta was clearly the best team in all of football that 2017 SB season. They choked to the Pats after having the game in hand, but that happens.

It really wasn't clear. Dallas was a consistently very good defensive team all year, but on top of that they averaged 31 PPG over their final 9 games of the year including the playoffs, outside of week 17 when they rested all their starters.

The term "Any Given Sunday" is exactly how I'd describe their playoff loss to GB, considering Dallas beat them by 2 TDs during the season in Green Bay. Experience very often times trumps talent when it comes to the playoffs.

The Cowboys were a whole lot more than Dak and Zeke that year. They had one of the stingiest defenses in the NFL, and while I don't think Dak is elite (I don't believe he "ain't shit" without Zeke, as I've said multiple times recently that he's a good QB), their offense was still more than capable of beating the Falcons, especially considering how horrible Atlanta's defense was (25th in total defense, 27th in scoring defense). Atlanta was obviously very good, but they were far from being "clearly" better than Dallas.
Aren't you on record of calling Dak mediocre?

AFC has won 5 of the last 7 Super Bowls, with 3 different winners. You are wrong.

Ravens win proved to be pretty flukey. If Gostowski doesn't miss an extra point in the 2015 AFC championship, the Pats likely beat the Panthers and have an even more impressive run. Yes both wins count but it doesn't change the fact that its been the Pats and alot of mediocrity in the AFC for quite some time.

The 2015 Panthers and 2016 Falcons were clearly the best teams in the NFC.

Agree with this. Was too bad my Hawks were asleep in the first half of the playoff game in Carolina and maybe could have squeaked past them, but the Panthers were better that year regardless.

That's pretty short-sighted. Take a look at this site:

NFL Decade Standings: How the league stacks up from 2010-2017

Of the top 10 teams in the NFL record-wise from 2010-2017, 6 were from the AFC. Throughout the ranking of the top 32 teams, it's almost spot for spot. The only thing that's been true is New England has been consistently dominant this decade. Otherwise, there hasn't been any consistently great teams in either conference.

The only legitimately mediocre year in the AFC, imo, was 2017.

The 2010 Packers finished 10-6 and in a 3-way tie for the #6 seed. The tie-breaker was in their favour. That doesn't mean they were better than either of the 10-6 teams that missed out on the playoffs.

The Patriots get to coast while the NFC fights each other.

You would have figured that out if you had the aptitude.

The beauty is the Eagles beat them anyway.:first:

That's a great point. Add Philly to the lucky list

I know this has to be something to acknowledge but most of the recent NFC winners have benefitted from screw-ups by other teams and well-coached teams being down.

The 2015 Panthers, 2016 Falcons, and 2018 Rams will never hold a candle to the 2009 Saints, 2010 Packers, 2011 Giants, 2013 Seahawks, and 2017 Eagles. Those latter teams simply were more layered. If the NFC can get Green Bay and Seattle back to relevance to go with NO and Philadelphia, then the NFC will be a problem for the AFC again.
Come on. The game is 60 minutes and in this case longer. Let it go. If you were the better team that day you would have won. One play doesn't decide a game when one team "should" have won. I never realized how whiny Saints fans were until this happened.

One question. Is OP trying to suggest the 2011 NY Giants were a good team?
