Back in 1991, Marino was the highest paid player in the NFL with a contract worth $23 million guaranteed. 22 years later, Flacco signed a contract with a whole $6 million more in guaranteed money. Only one of the two signed the contract after being named Super Bowl MVP.

A whole 6 million more in guaranteed money? Yeah 6 million then compared to 6 million now. Marino made 1.45 million in 98 and 99.... the years in "question"... Flacco made 35 million this year.

flacco is taking home 35 million dollars this year...... At the time he signed his contract, in its entirety, it made him the highest paid player in the history of the game...

Joe Flacco, Baltimore Ravens reach agreement, according to source - ESPN

whether he is the actually the highest paid or not at this very point he is up there. So the point remains... Your "super bowl winning" QB is grossly overpaid. Because he isn't even close to the talent of the QB's in his payscale. Manning, Brady, Brees, Rodgers, are all exceptional QB's. Flacco is very mediocre.

does him being the 4th highest paid player make those 5 int's hurt any less?

Does him throwing those 5 int's make the 49ers Super Bowl loss hurt any less?

Pop quiz of the day:

What do Andrew Luck, Peyton Manning, Tom Brady and Colin Kaepernick have in common?

Another concession speech.... there have been a lot of those today.

And yes, it actually does make that loss feel a little better, because the Ravens blew chunks and dismantled their team to sign flacco and now they are done. and its kind of funny. humor can really help you through bad times...

BTW...stop posting things that are completely false. In no way shape or form did Flacco take home $35 mil dollars this year.

You can post it a bazillion times if you like...it won't magically make it true.

How exactly did they dismantle their team because of Flacco?

Flacco's guaranteed money is more than $29 million. His signing bonus was $29 million, but his actual guaranteed money is $52 million. That's a lot more than Marino's $23 million.

The additional $23mil is guaranteed for injury only.

Here are his contract details:

My point was Flacco's contract is nowhere close to what people are making it out to be.

At some point though the Ravens are going to have to rework this contract if they plan on keeping Flacco past the next I think 3 years. My guess is they will have trouble going down too much compared to what they have already given him in this deal so he will still remain one of the top paid quarterbacks whether he is deserving or not.

If QBs like Tony Romo and Matt Ryan continue to make more than Flacco, I'm fine with it.
