Howard gets crapped on here a lot, but I think he has potential as a 1-2 inning reliever. It just took the rangers awhile to realize that. Hopefully he can help us in that role.

Baltimore is only a half game further back from the Rays than the Astros are behind us. The Orioles are closer in the loss column than the Astros are.

The Braves are at 98% and the Marlins are just as close to them as the Astros are to us.

They may simply release King to clear the 40 man spot for Howard. They need to go ahead and bring up Speas pretty soon as well.

Best thing I can say about Howard is that the team is already weathering a subpar bullpen. Either he contributes and that helps, or he blows it and we move on to the next piece.

It's not just the Rangers. It is pretty much everyone on this board and justifiably so. He actually pitched well as a starter in the minors last year just before they called him back up and I was pulling for the guy but he bottomed out. But for our benefit I hope him pitching as a reliever works out. So as I said before I hope it is the real deal this time and not fools gold.

The guy was on fire at the end of Spring Training and then stayed hot at the beginning of the season then went on the DL and I was concerned that the time off would affect him. But he is playing at a MVP level. His best AVG, SLG % and OPS in his career.

He's allowing an opponent batting average of .301 and an OPS of 828.

Yep. Hopefully he can pitch more consistently like the two starts prior to his last.
He's got to do a better job of hitting the corners of the strike zone like he was doing last year, and even his first six starts this year (when his ERA was briefly around 2.40) rather than missing outside.
