The latest mock from the Athletic:

James Hagens

team-logo-13-300x300.png

Commentary
If Hagens gets here, I think the Flyers like him and would consider taking him. Same goes for Desnoyers, whose well-rounded game and smarts could really support and complement Matvei Michkov. But Desnoyers isn't going to be there. If Hagens isn't, I think they lean Martin over Jake O'Brien here in terms of the other centers (though they did take O'Brien to dinner in Buffalo). The pull of a center, and a player like Martin, is real in this range.

This is the most ridiculous post you have ever put up. Please see if you can have Retro delete it. :L

How so? You're saying the coach, who is the ultimate leader of the team, provides the system and style of play the team will use and has the power to bench those not conforming, is NEVER responsible for the team losing. How can that level of leadership not be held accountable for results, but the guy with 0 actual power and just some fancy stitching on his shirt is responsible for how the rest of the players play?

Cmon this is ridiculous now. Players play and decide outcomes on the ice 100% of the time. Done with this nonsense.

Sure. And G and Coots did everything they could to drag the carcasses passed off as teammates to success and still got the blame for failures because they aren’t good enough leaders. By you in particular. That is what is nonsense.

Dumb ass Aneheim Ducks traded for Kreider and gave the Rangers 6.5 million more cap space. :mad2:

On top of taking Trouba's full hit a few months ago. Anaheim single-handedly bailing them out of cap hell. And they have Gauthier.

Ducks might need to be your #1 most hated team soon.

Edit: Shit, they have Vatrano and Strome from the Rangers too.

Marchment is turning 30 in one week. That's a hard pass.

Yea, I agree on passing on Marchment. Don't need to bring older players.
He's probably a great fit for us, but that's only if we're competing right now (and we aren't). That and he's on an expiring contract next season. So yeah, we could maybe get him cheap and enjoy him for a season, but then what!? We're not in prime position to rent a guy for a season or sign a 31 year old to an extension either. It would be a bit of a weird move for us unless we flip him at the deadline. Even then, he's probably taking ice time from one of our youngsters for most of next season.

For what it's worth, the dude didn't have a very flattering playoff run (statistically) either. 1 goal and -5 in 18 games played. I'd say the Stars needed more out of guys like him to have a real shot at winning the Cup.

The Ducks are suddenly kind of old now in spots. Kreider, Killorn and Gudas are all 34+. Vatrano, Strome, Trouba and Gibson are all 31. The rest of the roster is young. Idk wtf they are trying to do...Lol
