Spring Pac-12 bowl projections: Oregon and UCLA get back to bowl games

Rose Bowl - USC vs. Ohio State - I’m sticking with the Trojans winning the Pac-12 and making the Playoffs. Their reward will be a traditional Rose Bowl against a loaded Ohio State which should be even better than the one that made the Playoffs last year.

Fiesta Bowl - Washington vs. Penn State - The Huskies should give USC a fight for that Playoff spot, but I can’t pick them to win, given they lost by 13 against USC, at home last year. The Huskies should land comfortably with a New Year’s bowl against a Top 10 Big Ten team.

Alamo Bowl - Stanford vs. Texas - The Cardinal have about everything but a quarterback and (as long as their eventual QB is solid), they should land just below a New Year’s Bowl.

Holiday Bowl - Colorado vs. Nebraska - I like Colorado’s depth chart more and more every time I look at it and think they should finish second in the South, setting them up for a very good bowl. A Colorado/Nebraska rivalry revival in San Diego would be very fun.

Foster Farm’s Bowl - Washington State vs. Iowa - The Cougars get another nice season and bowl destination out of Luke Falk and company.

Sun Bowl - Utah vs. Virginia Tech - Another year, another 8-10-win season for the Utes where they challenge for the South crown, but don’t take it and get middling play at quarterback. Not a bad destination for them though.

Las Vegas Bowl - Oregon vs. Boise State - The Ducks bounce back and get right back to a bowl. A fun rematch of the LaGarrette Blount incident in Vegas would be primo.

Cactus Bowl - UCLA vs. Texas Tech - The Bruins will bounce back as well and make it to a bowl, though obviously not their dream bowl.

Picking bowl games right now is just nuts. I'm pretty familiar with USC and think they can have a special year but picking them right now for anything other than having a really good shot at getting to the PAC championship game is just throwing darts.

How you feeling about the O line? that's the unit that scares me.
They did lose some top tier talent. From what I've read. We may see a combo of guys stepping up and a few of this years new recruits battling it out. I'm going to wait until the last camp before I think about it too much. And hope whatever direction they go. They gel fast. Darnold may help. A lot of injuries right now tho

I agree, they are and should be the favorites in the South.

That said, I can't even pick them to win their opening PAC 12 Conference game at home.

SC has only beat Stanford at home once over the last decade. The two teams have played 11 times in that span, and SC has won just 3 of the 11 in total. Besides that, Stanford has won in those 8 by nearly an average margin of two TD's. (12.25 avg/g)

Not that I don't think the Trojans have a good shot with all the strides they made last year, it's just the history that tells me it's still too early to pick SC to even win it's opener.

The team with the best player has won that matchup . This year it's USC.

Jim-
Do I smell and AVI bet, I might let TF12 off the hook this year. I will take Stanford's secondary, Bryce Love and Trent Irwin (no matter the QB) on a straight up 7 day AVI bet.

I will even go so far as to guess that Harrison Phillips has at least 1.5 coverage sacks in the game.

I peg Stanford as a 10 win team this year, it is a odd year, and, as such, their home schedule is very favorable.

Oh and fuck all of you dicks who rag on attendance. I will be in the Coliseum this year for the game if you want to look up the chubby bald guy in the NerdNation gear.

I'm in. Don't think there's a secondary that will be able to cover USCs wide outs when Darnold can extend plays and has the arm to make all the throws. You're going to feel like we did when USC would play against Andrew Luck. lol

With Hoke running the ducks defense what could go wrong. I don't know how I missed that but in this scenario. WTF!

Hoke went from head coach at Michigan to defensive coordinator at Oregon to D line coach at Tenn. Whats his next gig? Waterboy?
