After reading the interweb it says Coach Joe turned down an offer from $C to coach their d line last off season, not sure if it's true but WTF if you turn down the premiere west coast program for the flash in the pan school? Any Ducks fans that wants Kelly over Taggart is nuts. Taggart is spending a billionaires money where it should be instead of a cuter looker weight set and pretty costumes to wear on Saturdays.

Well if it was last off season he'd be hitching his wagon to a first year head coach in Helton and maybe not much job security. Maybe he saw how that worked out and got over his fears and took the job at Oregon.

A guy like him doesn't need "job security" his reputation alone now in American Samoa will mean he won't be on the bread line anytime soon. Even if he hitched his wagon to a first year coach who got fired he'd have every west coast school wanting him for any position just to use his recruiting abilities to American Samoa. I get him wanting to get out of Pullman for all the BS that happened to "his guys" but it just seems like a lateral move realistically since with Oregon's money spree it doesn't seem like there would be much room to advance to DC as opposed to he was next in line in Pullman.

Every move is calculated and yes they all want job security. He might be one who will always have a job, but its the right job at the right time they always look for.

Also if you want to talk job security. Oregon has a track record of keeping position coaches for a long time. IIRC this is the first time in my lifetime they've done a complete firing and reset.

ASU has demoted Keith Patterson, who may be considering retirement, to LB coach and is bringing in former SMU HC Phil Bennett as DC. Most recently, Bennett was the DC at Baylor.

More importantly, from scanning through Baylor's fan forum, the majority of fans seemed to think he did pretty well all things considered.

I don't really think there is such a thing as Job security for an assistant coach. But maybe Oregon gives better security than most? I don't know.

To be fair, they're really pretty costumes and make the players feel pretty when they wear them.

Outside of Hoke, every major coach had been there for YEARS. Silver medal effort there, Jimbo.

Well, the era of coaches being comfortable in Eugene is probably over.

The recruiting dead period is over so many schools will be hosting plenty of commits and recruits on official visits this weekend. Everyone wants to finish strong. Huskies should be getting about 3-4 more commits to finish the class. Most of its done and looking real good.

Wow this is weird, I guess. But Utah
Hired the EWU OC to be the OC. I thought
He did pretty good up there. I just
Found out that he coached Jake Browning
In high school. Is this a good hire?
