Can't see him leaving for a another college. No talk about Pro aspirations?
He seems to be into the whole developing kids aspect. He doesn't seem like the type who has the desire to work with NFL players and egos. Just my completely uninformed assumption.

He has never shown any interest at the pro level. He's a total geek for teaching kids. It's his passion.

How about his top assistants? Any of them looking to be a head coach somewhere? That's the tough part. I remember Pete having to replace coordinators and after a while i think that took a toll. Sabans been very good at hiring coordinators after one leaves.

Good question, that's a double edged sword isn't it... on one hand, you want your coordinators to get picked up for head jobs, because it means you're doing something right, on the other hand you don't want to be losing them.

I think smith still has some proving himself to do. Kwaitkowski? I think oregon wanted him for their d coordinator spot last year. I haven't heard about any interest in him as far as a head job goes. May be coming though.

You want the very best you can get for your staff. That means guys that might be moving up at some point. It's a great problem to have.

Love the contract extension in the works. Stay as long as possible Pete.

Big part of this is to keep the band together as well. Especially coach Lake whose on everyone's radar right now.

I like this guy Lake. lol
UW's Jimmy Lake says USC quarterback Sam Darnold 'is going to be a star'

Washington co-defensive coordinator Jimmy Lake had high praise for USC’s offense across the board, and has been particularly impressed with redshirt freshman QB Sam Darnold, who has led the Trojans to five consecutive victories after taking over for Max Browne.

Darnold, 6-feet-4 and 225 pounds, has thrown for 1,874 yards wth 20 touchdowns, four interceptions, a 67.9 completion rate and an efficiency rating of 168.10 — second in the Pac-12 behind UW’s Jake Browning. In six games as the starter, Darnold has been sacked just three times, and he’s also rushed 41 times for 172 yards and two touchdowns.

“I really believe this young quarterback is going to be a star in this conference,” Lake said.

Darnold is future NFL material for sure. That kid was the major reason SC did a complete 180 starting with the Utah game.

He's got an NFL body too which is very important. 6'4" and 225 as a freshman. Drew Brees and Wilson are freaks of nature. Everyone else better have an NFL body or your ceiling is Case Keenum.

It sucks he won't be at Washington anymore. I was hoping he'd replace Smith as OC.

Petersen did an interview with softy earlier in the season (think it was around the Oregon game) they talked about Tedford a bit. It was pretty clear Petersen didn't expect him to be around long. He was waiting for a head coaching gig.

Actually he spoke about Tedford just a couple of weeks ago and said the same thing. He said it was just nice to have someone to sound off of that understands things from a HC perspective and he just gets it. I'm glad Tedford isn't going to another Pac school where his inside knowledge of our program could come back to bite us in the ass. Good luck to him at Fresno.
