I was referencing his MLB performance in 2014 and not his AAA performance.
28 games and a 105 AB's is too little to predict what he will or will not do

I wasn't trying to predict what he would do. That is the problem we have on here sometimes. A lot of times the original statements aren't read or they are forgotten and only the end of a discussion is read and a false interpretation is made. I started out stating that I thought Rua had indeed played up to his potential when he had the opportunity. 105 ABs was his opportunity and in my mind he made the most of it.28 games and a 105 AB's is too little to predict what he will or will not do

The following statement was made.
"He has never played up to potential in the bigs YET."
I replied that "He played up to his potential the first time he came up in 2014 and injuries prevented him from being able to show that he could do it again in 2015."
Somehow after the end of the conversation you say I am trying to predict what he will do. lol

He only had 105 AB and I think he made the most of that limited opportunity. I was surprised that he was able to do that well in that limited opportunity. To me he played up to his potential in that short time period about as best as he could have. The idea of him being able to play up to his potential or not in the limited number of at bats was already established as a possibility before I responded. I was responding within the mindset that he did have time to show something one way or another. Whether he had time to "play up to his potential" or not is certainly worthy of discussion, but since it was implied I just went with what was presented.I think in my mind that 105 ABs is not enough ABs (vs 83 last year) to determine whether he's played to his potential at any point, whether it was then or now. And, essentially we have zero clue what Rua is going to give us going forward.
Thad Levine said they knew what would happen with Chris Davis and they were right.I watched Rua and he has legit power and I will give you last year being a wash. He had som e improvement within first year fielding LF but I do not see him ever being an elite LF defensively due to tools. I trust FO to give those who deserve chances the chances they have earned. Obviously a guy like Gallo also did not demonstrate plate discipline but his upside is obvious.
Odor did not have it together and went back down and came back and produced. We shall see what Rua does. He will IMO have to be an overachiever as we have talent in the wings. He has and has had a legit shot. It is all on him. But regardless he may have a MLB future. He has been flexible position wise which bodes well.
Ps another guy who got it done even with injury is DDJ. Patience may be an excuse. Chris Davis We really don't know what happened

DeShields got a chance and did well with it. Too bad for him we have Brinson to replace him with as a starter in CF eventually though. Good for us, but bad for him. Although it could work out very well for him if we find a suitable trade partner sometime in the next year or so.
The last I heard David Murphy is still available. lolWell we did our shopping last year. I think he is right LF is a concern. Josh health and age is huge. I think LF is more wide open than thought and it would be great if someone steps up internally

I wouldn't mind having David back and if we didn't have as many left handed bats he might already be here.We actually could do worse than a Murphy Ruggiano platoon.

If Josh wasn't here I wouldn't mind having Murphy back at all. If we found out today that Josh was going to be out for the season then I would certainly like for them to go out and sign David. As we are presently constructed he is not a good fit.You should have stuck with LOL
We are going with DeShields for now and if his defense isn't good enough then maybe he can make up for it on offense. The defense is what it is. There is a reason why Stubbs is still unemployed. Guys who are all defense and who can't hit a lick are just not that much in demand. We need premium defensive outfielders especially in CF. Thwt is not what the Rangers outfield was last year. Most of the infield including Carcher as well was not elite be any standards. We can talk platoons and I know Mazara is on the roster and Brinson is not but if we pick up another outfielder which now looks like it can only be a minor league contract IMO, it surely won't be an overpriced good guy with an average arm and can't climb the wall no matter how clutch he once was at the plate against RHP. Fan favorite does not get you to the post season.
Josh is reportedly still having injury concerns. So in the meanwhile I suspect we wait it out to see how desperate Stubbs becomes. BTW we would have lost some games without his defense. I have no ideas what can of defense Jones the pickup from Seattle can produce. I can research but I do like the eye test which is why I know from the past what some guys can and can not do. Gentry could climb a wall and plug the gap.
