Prospect Q&A: Texas Rangers prospect Lewis Brinson climbing the ranks | MiLB.com News | The Official Site of Minor League Baseball
MiLB.com: They definitely didn't ease you in either. They tossed you and Mazara right into the top of the order, huh?
Brinson: I wouldn't want it any other way. I don't like being babied in anything. You throw me into the fire and I'll find a way to fend for myself. But it was awesome. I'm glad that they did that and they had enough faith in us to stick us in the lineup right there in key spots. It was definitely a learning experience for us. It was a lot of fun, and I'm up for any other challenge they've got for me.
MiLB.com: What's the biggest area of your game you want to grow in this year?
Great answer from a determined young prospect.
This is a great story about Keone Kela and his interaction with a young fan.

More Josh Morgan to catcher buzz.
Poll: Who is the Rangers' #2 starter?
Adam Morris doesn't think there is a clear consensus on who the #2 starter is to begin the season behind Hamels. Although, the poll numbers thus far seem to indicate that there is a fairly clear consensus.
It's Holland, and anyone who thinks different deserves a
I really hope Doug P can help him. Dutch has not lived up to his #2 potential. I know he came back hot end of 2014 but I refuse to be sentimental. He needs to reprobe himself again. I knew what the masses would say before I cast vote. Perez regressed a bit too. Our bullpen the second half were much stronger than our SP.
Wtf are you talking about? Dutch was a monster when he first came back last season. He just over extended himself too soon and ran out of gas.
For one thing he was so great when he returned in 2014 that just about anyone's return from injury in any year is not going to be as good. For another thing his injury in 2014 was not pitching or shoulder related like it was in 2015.Please...2014 inj ret Dutch > than 2015 inj ret Dutch. Don't ya think? Last year, he had trouble locating pitches. That is what I am referring to. I will grant you a couple great early starts and I am going by memory. Perhaps this last injury was tough to get touch back but he did not log many innings.
As a fan I had hoped for more from him and I am not excusing injuries. I still hated Wash plugging him into the As game instead of Koji early. Despite WS game he has underwhelmed despite greater talent than Perez.

Dutch came back later in 14 than he did in 15. If you look at his first few starts last year they are just as good or better than his few starts he made in 14. Second, Derek's injury in 14 wasn't shoulder related. It was last year. He simply tried to do too much too soon and paid for it at the end. You're way off here.
Well......Maybe I am off having too high expectations due to injury/ the lack of control I saw end of last season-- He has not lived up to expectations- Perez regressed a bit too last season even with his temperament getting out of jams. They thought Dutch would come back sooner and He was pushing it himself-- he logged around 50 innings I think- control was the issue not tired IMO
Original question was who was your Number 2 and I voted Perez not because he has more talent ( minus changeup) it is about who has produced- I could care less about Dutch goofiness one way or another. Dutch is engaged and he cares. You would like a homegrown guy with this talent to take it to a higher level. He has not done that YET. Regardless, I am a fan of him and Perez
BTW - way off is extreme-(ha) there is not much difference in performance that I have seen although they are different types of pitchers
When fatigue is an issue, control becomes an issue. Dutch is undoubtedly our second best pitcher to start the season.
