Like any of you guys have anything resembling the first fucking clue what the owners are thinking/doing with that revenue and what their financial plans are. What a bunch of know it all armchair owner/gm crybabies.

Shelby Miller is who the D'Backs traded for. Wade Miley got traded from the Red Sox to the Mariners.
haha you're so right. My brain was fucking broken when I made that post. Miller while very good and has upside isn't a number 1 you give up that amount of talent for.

Was all the tv revenue spent on prince? Why has the budget remained the same this year and beyond when supposedly the revenue from the tv deal netted substantially more $
I believe if you go back the year we got Prince and Choo our payroll didn't go up very much because of all of the money we had leave the team. Over the course of a couple of years we lost Young, Hamilton, CJ, Kinsler, and Napoli. The total payroll stayed relatively flat even when we acquired Choo and Prince.

I am not sure about why our payroll didn't go up when we got the new TV contracts both locally and nationally. I think this ownership has become somewhat disappointing. Last year I saw one site that had us listed at 8th in payroll and now JD talks as if we are going to be no better than 11th. The Nationals had a payroll $20 million more than we did last season and the Giants and Tigers had payrolls $30 million more than us. The Red Sox had a payroll $45 million more than us. I don't understand that. If they can't play with the big boys they need to sell to a new ownership group that can.

The Rangers didn't select anyone in the MLB Rule 5 draft. In the minor league phase of the draft they did get Garrett Weber(2B/COF) from the Diamondbacks. He hit .302/.371/.455 between AA and AAA last year.

Politically correct way to analyze Texas Rangers budget plans.

Rangers signed Tony Barnette. 2 years
They are loading up on fairly cheap bullpen pieces in order to use bullpen arms as trade bait. That and prospects are about the only currency they have much of.

Thought process for me. If owners recklessly spend and raise ticket prices wildly, I don't go out to the bsllpark. If they don't spend at all on the product and product suffers, I don't go out. Good to find middle ground. Regardless IMO it is foolish to make judgements on finanaciial without knowing full story but how can you? So yeah I do. Or predict doom and gloom because owners refuse to spend. Is that what was said when we got Hamels?

not predicting doom and gloom just slightly disappointed that we are not trying to build on last season's high note but are bargain basement shopping again

Is that a fact or an IMO?

just messing around with the green stamp dig but apparently the owners have told JD not to do anything that would raise the payroll any significant amount which virtually eliminates anything worthwhile in the starting pitching, catching or RH/OF areas unless we trade away prospects and mlb level players.

People bitching about them not spending the tv revenue on free agents. Like any of them have a fucking clue what's going on.

OK....fair enough.

From an observation standpoint, some should really refresh the memory button on how and when we became relevant last year. If memory serves, we were resurrected after most around baseball, most posters here - me included - had our coffin and plot all picked out.

JD saved the day guys after we started off just horribly. Remember?
