It would very much surprise me if someone doesn't make a 2 year, $12-14 mil offer to him. So, I sure hope the Rangers don't balk at competing in that neighborhood.

I think 2/16 is what we here at Armchair HQ were throwing out previously for the Rangers to do. However, now I'm curious what Colby thinks would be "lowballing." There might be someone out there who would go 2/20 on him.

I would not want to sign Colby for 2 years unless it was very, very cheap. I wouldn't mind an option for a second year that kicks in should he have a better season next year that in 2015.

This will be interesting to see what his interpretation is vs JDs. I'm thinking he wants us to be "very fair" since he's probably thinking he out-performed the previous one year deals he had.

Now that I've heard from Armchair HQ the 2/16 seems more than fair to both parties to me. ha ha

Hold that thought...

Tigers sign Mike Pelfrey to two-year, $16 million deal

If that scrub gets 2/16, Colby will want (and probably should get) more.

Ya know, I saw this earlier and it did "register" with me.

Also, I know, as we all do, Colby wants to stay in Arlington. But.....BIG but too........he outplayed the dollars in 2013, and Way out pitched the money in 2014.

He ain't grabbing his ankles for the sake of loving home when this may be his last baseball contract. Just my thoughts.

Colby deserves a contract based on his 17 wins in 2015 not what someone else gets. I don't know what that figure is but he helped us win the division and gave everything he had playing through pain. That plus loyalty if there is such a thing in sports should land him in good graces with the FO. I hope to see him in the rotation 2016.

It's being reported that the Cubs have signed Lackey. Two years for 34 million.

Hi Duane. Haven't heard much from ya lately. Sounds like the Cubs have lost their minds.

Colby deserves a contract based on his 17 wins in 2015 not what someone else gets.

But the contract market fluctuates according to who gets what, which was my point. If Mike F'n Pelfrey gets 2/16, then a 17-game winner is definitely going to command more.

I've been on here just not posting. A lot of money for a guy who is 37. Hope your doing good health wise.

Can't believe they outbid the Dodgers.

The financials haven't been released yet. But to think anyone would spend more money than the Dodgers is hard to phantom to begin with.

Why have a $300 mil payroll and yet, let this guy walk? Don't understand it, on surface value anyway.

I think he wanted out of that fiasco

Maybe.....but what makes AZ so much better? After all, he's a guy who has always said he'll go to the highest bidder no matter what.
