For anyone interested, the amendment to build a new minor league stadium passed in Cleburne. If you are not acquainted with Cleburne, it's about 45 mi south of Ft. Worth.

Profar was 0 for 3 with a sacrifice fly and a walk today. His sac fly was part of a 6 run rally in the bottom of the 9th to win the game for Surprise 9-8.

I still wonder if that is going to be affiliated with a big league club or if it will be more like the Fort Worth Cats. Probably the latter I would think.

Seems like the Cats would have a say in that, there would be some sort of territorial rule if it were an independent team. If it were MLB, I'd think that would be an issue too though.

Alex Gordon just made himself a FA.

Wonder what kind of deal he is looking for? Gave up 1yr/$12M. I know we have warm bodies on our corners, but always liked that guy.

No clue, but Texas does not need another left handed OF over 30.

I'd love to have him if our circumstances were different. His too actually.

He's probably looking for 3 years or more, and at a pretty steep price too.

Right. Choo's contract really limits how many other LF CoFs you can bring in.

The FW Cats no longer exist.

For those of you who are both Rangers fans and Cowboys fans I wonder if Jason Garrett might entertain the idea of having Jeff Banister come in and talk to the Cowboys this week. The Rangers went through their own very tough extended stretch just like the Cowboys have. Banister's might be a voice that the Cowboys need to hear right now. Just an idea.

Norm Hitzges mentioned his desire to see the Rangers sign Ryan Rayburn to platoon from the right handed side of the plate. He plays 2B, 3B, and COF. He has played a handful of games at 1B. If he had more experience at 1B that would be better.

I doubt anyone on the Cowboys is that smart.

Not much information out there on Iapoce.

Anthony Iapoce, who spent the past three seasons with the Cubs overseeing their Minor League hitting program, has been hired by the Rangers as their Major League hitting coach.

This will be Iapoce's first job in the Major Leagues. Prior to joining the Cubs, he spent three seasons as the Blue Jays' roving hitting instructor. After playing collegiately at Lamar, Iapoce, 42, played 12 years in the Minor Leagues.

Did anyone know this guy was in the conversation for consideration? I missed it if this was common Ranger knowledge.

Having already admitted I knew/know little about the hitting coach position, I am quite pleased with the addition of Brocail, and the promotions of Mashore and Holman.

And Bobby Jones is now our replay coordinator; who had this position last year? Seemed like the Rangers didn't do very well in getting the calls turned over, but I'll be damned if I wanted to put that at the doorstep of any individual within our organization.
