Chris Davis and the Orioles have agreed to a seven-year, $161 million deal for the slugger to remain in Baltimore, a source confirmed to ESPN's Jerry Crasnick.

Good for Chris, he has really done well there and I am happy for him

I had little doubt he would get that kind of AAV and payday. He's one of the few guys who can crank 40 homers and also take walks. That's gonna get you 9 figures in baseball now.

Hope Gallo can do the same for us.

Who wants to bet they split the difference as usual and go with 3.25-3.3 million range?

Lots of hand wringing over nothing. Kinda like when Lainey raised hell over the Rangers and David Murphy being apart a little on the numbers they presented. Never saw somebody who raised so much hell about things while clearly being completely clueless.

Both sides like avoiding arb. Just way easier.

It's how pretty much any business deal gets done.
Right... I can't think of any one who goes in looking to buy and is honest with how much they have to spend. They would get destroyed on every single deal.

The last 3 years Murphy was paid 17.8 million dollars (5.8, 6 and 5.5 in salary and a .5 buyout), and provided 800k in production per WAR total, sigh

Veterans sure make a lot of money to hog a roster slot.

Yes but the Rangers were completely disrespecting him by not giving him the salary he requested pre arbitration.

Full no trade and no opt-out. No word (that I've seen) on deferrals.
I saw where a lot of it was being deferred. I believe I saw his actual AAV that he will be paid during the life of the 7 years of the contract is $17 million which would put the deferred amount at at $42 million if my math is correct. I believe he will be getting paid until he is 51 years old.

Wonder if upton is getting closer to considering a one year deal.
