Why all the new hotel and shopping if the city hasn't already planned on enclosing the place.

I think they are mentioning Upton with the thought of him going with a one year contract. I don't believe there have been rumors associating us with him this offseason until it was suggested that he might take a one year deal. That would negate the idea of him interfering with our plans for our young outfielders, but it would mean Hamilton would be on the bench. That is unless Hamilton becomes the DH and Prince plays 1B with Moreland sitting. That might be the reason they only mentioned budget constraints and not Mazara. Just guessing.
They very well might. Who do you think would be the odd man out of the lineup if they did?I'd be willing to bet the owners would do a one year deal, even if they had to pay a little above market value for upton on a one year deal. Of course, I'm purely speculating.

Agree. Cheap but fragile.Hamilton, no question.

Hamilton, no question.
IMO, IF Hamilton can maintain a degree of health, he's going to get time in LF, regardless of who is signed.
I did say "IF."
The thing is... the Rangers - in need of a RH bat in the lineup - aren't going to sign a big name RH bat and then make him a bench player. One of those LH bats is coming out of the lineup, and since Upton also plays Hamilton's position, Hamilton is the odd man out. Sure, they'll get him into the lineup sporadically, but if Upton signs, Josh becomes a bench player, even when healthy enough to play.
It also doesn't hurt that the $ contribution to him in 2016 is zero.
Doesn't that also depend on which Mitch Moreland shows up this year? The thing is... the Rangers - in need of a RH bat in the lineup - aren't going to sign a big name RH bat and then make him a bench player. So we keep Ham and Ruggy? Doubtful.

What's doubtful is that the Rangers sign Upton. We're all just spitballing hypotheticals here.
Ain't it great? ha ha ha
Do you know what Upton's splits are in the hitting against lefty/righties?
Vs. RHP:
3700 PA / .271 avg / .342 OBP / .463 SLG / .805 OPS
Vs. LHP:
1234 PA / .273 avg / .380 OBP / .506 SLG / .886 OPS
Well, I had the inconsistency of Mitch Moreland in mind when I asked my question previously. I think it would depend on which bat Banny thinks the most of. Does he want Hamilton's bat in the game or Mitch's?The original question was: "If the Rangers sign Justin Upton, who becomes the odd man out?"
If you start adding caveats to the question, then obviously you have to do the same to the answer.
