Sometimes, when you get a potentially golden opportunity, dollars seem to show up.

Keys here, not knowing what the dollars are mind ya, would be it's for one year, prospects stay intact, and we get substantially better.

Besides, it's not our money, nor really our worry of where the money comes from really.

We've seen the owners break out the wallet when the right opportunity presented itself time and time again. They did it with Hamels, Beltre, Darvish, and were prepared to do it with Lee.

where would we get the money?
When Cruz was looking for a one year deal a few years back we couldn't seem to find the money for him and I am sure Upton will get more than Cruz got that year. We shall see.

They did do it up until the Darvish signing. They had to make Hamels work by shedding themselves of Harrison and realizing that we would also have Gallardo, Feliz and others off of the books in the other years we pay Hamels. I think the Hamels deal shows what we would have to do to bring in a high dollar player. We would have to find a way to make it equal out and not add much to the budget overall. Although, if they were ever going to break the budget a one year deal would be the easiest way to do it and I would not rule that out completely.

Jon Daniels and some media people said Ranger don't have the budget so you have to believe that no matter what...Unless they go against it like they have so any times already.

What do you think he would get on a one year deal and how far up to you think the Rangers would be willing to go on a one year deal?

That's because they made the decision to go with choo over Cruz. Apples and oranges.

in this case i don't believe that the owners would be willing to free up any money. apparently there is absolutely nothing available

It is always easy for a fan to say they will free up money when they need to and then later say they either didn't need to or nothing was available. They is a fail safe line of thinking. That keeps the person from ever being disappointed as they have built in excuses. Different folks have different ways of coping so more power to them if that is what it takes.

Nothing? How about the aforementioned Upton, or Dexter Fowler, Austin Jackson, Gerardo Parra, Marlon Byrd who might be available on a one year deal?

I would think several of these guys, particularly Fowler, is looking for longer term deals however. And frankly, if you get someone to sign, even for a 2/3 year deal, if it's at the right dollars, then this makes trades available.

I think the money is available. It's a matter if they think the product is needed to get them where they want to go and if the price is right.

Except I remember hearing the Rangers offered him more money for 1 year than Balt did. (TX wanted him to DH...but Cruz wanted to play in the OF still).

That said, when I win the lotto tonight, I'll fund the J. Up (or anyone of major importance) transaction for 3yrs for a small stake in the team's ownership. :)

Toronto trade Ben Revere for Drew Storen. Glad to see Revere go because I thought he was a catalyst for Toronto when they picked him up.

That's what I remember. Money was not the issue.
