No More "Bullpen Failure"
I don't choose to ignore facts Romeo. I don't comment based on emotion without having a reason for my opinions. Those reasons aren't based on whims and emotions. Are they based on opinions of how I understand things? Certainly. And so is everyone else's comments on here. You sometimes have selective rebukes and use comments like "you have no idea how those things work". The same thing could be said about a lot of other things I write and others write. You don't remind me that I have no idea about the inner workings of the team when I am in agreement with you. You only act that way when you are in disagreement even though things you might agree with me on could be thought of in the same way.But you know, don't let facts get in the way of your narrative, Bennie.
When it comes down to it we guys on here have just as much right to form an opinion about finances as we do about a lot of other subjects and we have just as much knowledge to form those opinions. It is an incomplete knowledge of course, but so is the knowledge we have that allows us to have opinions about other subjects regarding the team.
You need to be forthright and approach these things as an honest disagreement. Instead, you often choose to say things like I mentioned above when you disagree. Why do you think you have to pull out the "you can't possibly know what is going on" argument when you disagree. Just say "I don't think you are right" and move on. I used to hear the same things from the Wash apologists when I made disparaging comments about Wash's managing. According to them I had no idea how things happen in the clubhouse or what things or going on behind the scenes so I can't know what I am talking about. It gets a little old after awhile.
So we disagree about the rigidity of the budget during these past three offseasons. Big deal. I think I have my reasons for what I believe and I assume you do as well. But, to imply that I am purposely avoiding or ignoring facts just to make a point is not right at all. I don't do that in my personal dealings with folks in person or in cyberspace.
The funny thing is when this offseason first started I had hopes this one would be different and I offered my opinions on what I thought they should spend and you rebuked me for thinking they should spend more. Then after a few comments have come out from JD I have taken the opinion that things aren't going to change and that the budget will stay close to the same and you don't like that either. That really makes it seem that you just want to be contrary.
