one shot, one put, one beautiful scene of that little white ball curving around the tree and landing exactly where you envisioned it, thats it, that one shot out of 90-100 shots is all it takes for me to keep coming back!

then I get to the second hole and it all falls apart!

EXACTLY. If I were truly good at the game, I'd expect to play well every time. Good shots wouldn't thrill me...that would require great shots.

The zen of golf is to strive for improvement, while enjoying the level of play that you're already capable of. I think I got that from one of the Caddyshack movies.
