I thought it was sad.

He loved being a Steeler and wanted to go out on his own terms. I'm sure taht he would have taken another pay cut and been happy being the 3rd or 4th receiver.

Poor guy, now all he has is dancing with the stars. :L LOL

Hines was, and always will be, one of the all-time great Steelers. But all good things must end...I'm just glad that he chose to retire a Steeler, instead of hanging on for one or two lackluster seasons with some other team.

Well, while I'm here...

What did you guys think of the Steeler's letting Hines Ward go?

best thing that could have happened to him as far as his career goes

he will be a steeler forever and go out being remembered as a hero instead of a washup

LOL! I have a feeling that I know why you asked that. Something tells me he's going to pop up in Athens to coach the WRs.

No, I asked it because it was the only thing I could think of that I cared about with the Steelers.

Hines has said that he wants to coach at UGA and has been hanging around campus a lot, but there are no positions available right now. I'm sure when something opens up he'll be heavily considered. He would be a great recruiter.

Former Pittsburgh Steelers receiver Hines Ward showed his moves on the football field in arguably a Hall of Fame career and he showed his deft footwork in winning ABC’s Dancing With The Stars last year. Now, Ward takes on a new challenge: television analyst.

The former Georgia Bulldog has been signed on by NBC Sports to work as an analyst for its NFL and college football coverage — a nice gig for Ward, who retired from the NFL in March after 14 years with the Steelers.

The four-time Pro Bowl participant has a multi-year deal and will be a regular contributor to the NBC’s Football Night In America on Sundays and will be part of NBC Sports Network’s college football studio show on Saturdays.

I think he would make a good coach
