I am in the minority, but I think it is almost always unfair to declare that someone flopped, even when watching slow-motion high-definition replays.

IMO, only in cases where the flop is extremely egregious can you declare with confidence that someone flopped.

Slippery floors, reflexive instincts, balance, inertia, and force are just a few examples of things that cannot be accurately measured with the human eye.

For example, I absolutely HATE the whole... "Look, his elbow didn't actually contact his face and he still jerked his head back".

Let's have a 250 lb guy with a 7 foot wing span swing his elbow an inch away from your face and see if you jerk your head back or not.

What compounds the problem is that the tv announcers calling the game are generally the worst at crying "flop" and the NBA audience seems to be eating it up.

I agree with everything you said except trying to stop it.

Imo they have been pretty lenient with the flopping calls and fines. I would like to see flagrants given.
