I know I haven't let it out in the open on the other board because I always argued against this point with Tito (because he's a dumbass,) but I'm a complete whore :squeeze: for guys that can and will take an extra base.

The SB:CS ratio is ugly, but he's too fast for that not to improve.

Lets all take a moment to appreciate how incredible he's been:

AVG .371
AB 143
H 53
2B 9
3B 2
HR 3
BB 13
SO 21
SB 21
CS 10
OBP .445
SLG .524
OPS .970

He definitely has some things to work on (K/BB, SB%), but I think the G's may have hit gold with this one...

Yeah, I'm getting excited.

Plus, I love pitching, defense, and speed too. I also liked Velez, and JSanch. But then again, I also like high OBP, light tower power, Matt 'MF' Cain, and Nate the Great Schierholtz.

Agreed on all points except the bolded. I didn't mind him except for when he has a glove on. His UZR was wildy fluctuating year to year, but he always found a way to choke with an error during a critical time.

Wow...

He also REALLY needs to work on his D. I wasn't expecting that :(

His D should be fine. By most scouting accounts I've read he's a great defensive player, just had a bad game in the field, but what a night at the plate...start showing some optimism you!

Hit streak extended to 9. 1 for 4 with a BB. Adrianza had his first game back today!

agreed on the sb:cs ratio. A baserunner getting caught stealing may be a result of several factors and may not be attributed to the base stealer himself.

The high number of attempts is good. 1) It means he's on base - lol and 2) he's aggressive once he's on there.

Maybe he doesn't have the instincts of a base stealer yet.. a lot of fast guys do not know how to read pitchers.

I was impressed on how he covered the plate with that last hit..nice up the middle approach

Hit streak at 12, currently sits at .374/.446/.521

Anybody thinks he cracks a midseason top 100 prospects list?

Here's how thebaseballcube.com rates his hitting tools compared to Mike Trout:

Gary Brown Statistics - The Baseball Cube

Mike Trout Statistics - The Baseball Cube

And here's how he compares to a certain player that the Giants absolutely have to package him and Wheeler together for:

Jose Reyes Statistics - The Baseball Cube

I see what you did there. You're clever you.

hahaha do I detect a bit of sarcasm from you Heath?:lalala:

Not this time. All of this Reyes stuff makes me laugh, and thought that was a clever way of making fun of the scenario. Who was it last year? Prince Fielder? It's a different pipe dream every year, but few people stop to think: How much better would this player make the Giants? At what cost? And would that be worth it? That's without even getting into the reality of the situation which dictates the improbability of it all.

It's one thing to spitball possible moves. Hell, I LOVES me some spitballing. It's another to create thread after motherfucking thread about the SAME move after it's been discussed and deemed damn unlikely.

But that's what children do -- they stick their fingers in their ears and say "nanananananan....can't hear you."

I expect this from my 5 yo nieces, I do NOT expect this from posters on a message board.

Aside-- my twin nieces who live in Santa Monica have both decided that they like "Uncle Boogie's Baseball team." If I've done nothing else right in the world I will meet my creator with this.

It is part of the fun of fandom, dreaming big about the splashy moves. I don't hate on people that do it, unless they can't stop insisting in the face of all obviousness how it's not going to happen. And especially if they claim they are better than the GM because that's what they'd do.

Then the pwning begins.

Yeah, it doesn't make any sense at all. People that insist on making all of these deals continuously (Fielder, reyes,) either don't understand that the more teams that want those players the higher the price will be, or they don't know anything about the players they're trying to give away. Like on the dipshit board, Marcus needs to stop saying over and over again "Wheeler could be the next Billingsley." From what I've seen and read about him, Wheeler's career (barring injury) has 2 very likely paths. He's either going to control his pitches a little bit better and continue his development to become a legit ace, or he's going to never figure it out and move to the bullpen with the same skill set as he has now.
Also, Brown would probably have to be included in this deal if there's a bidding war (once the deadline to deal a new draft pick passes,) and if he pans out, then he's basically Jose Reyes in center field.

That's a slightly higher ceiling than I expect from Brown, but your point is valid and correct, in my opinion. I like bouncing trade ideas around, too, but this early in the season and with the economics of the game, it just seems like it makes more sense to wait things out and evaluate all likely possibilities.

Well, ceiling isn't quite the same, Reyes has a bit more pop. The skillset is very similar though, speedy guys with great range, few walks, few strikeouts, high BA.
Rosterbation is a very healthy thing if you do it in moderation and are conscious of where and when you do it.

The most annoying part is when the same people that assume it doesn't what matter we give up now, will bitch their asses off about Sabes when Reyes leaves through FA and Wheeler shuts out the Giants in the 2015 playoffs.

You're spot on with keeping an eye on the economical situation as far as both money and more importantly (at least as it should be to the fans,) prospects go.
