Skinner played with better people on his line in a bad division. The only thing he led in other than points was assists and S%. Logan was much more of a factor for SJ than Skinner ever was for the Canes

Frankly, I thought the Calder was VERY even this year. They could have given it to any of those guys, and Skinner is pretty deserving of the award. What he did at his age without ever having played in even the AHL is pretty incredible.

I really enjoyed watching Couture as well. The guy has a pretty haute wrist shot.

Sorry you guys didn't get to watch Nicklas play a lot this year. You would know that minus 2 shouldn't have hurt his chances. I actually think I saw him break up more two on ones this year than most of his other seasons. But there's not really stats for that or any of the other little things he does. He was the best player on the team every night this year.

Thanks to the TV cameras sometimes picking up some of the on-ice talk, I actually learned ten different ways of saying "Good God, not again!" in Swedish.

Well, I at least liked Jay Mohr. He is really funny and not in an overbearing way. Think it's his delivery.

Still though, these awards need to be back in Toronto.

I'd prefer to see them rotate each year among cities that actually have NHL teams like the draft, the ASG, and to some extent the outdoor classics. With that in mind, if the only 2 options were Toronto or Las Vegas, I think Toronto makes more sense.

In the past when Lidstrom's high +/- was brought up in Norris talks, it was dismissed because of the team around him. So I will now bring up Chara playing in front of BY FAR the best goalie in the league, and with some great defensive forwards like Bergeron and Krecji (both should get consideration for the Selke, top ten at least). Weber plays in front of Rinne, maybe the second best goalie in the league, on a defense first system, and next to Ryan Suter. I know I've been slobbering Suter's knob all year, but I'll point out again that if the Norris went to the guy who was strictly the best defensively, Suter would be my pick. He's so fucking smart.

Lidstrom played next to Jonathan Fucking Ericsson, and Brian Rafalski. BR picked it up in the playoffs, but he sucked ass all year. Witness the retirement.

I would have been fine with Lubo, Chara, or Weber winning it, but age, reputation, or lemmingesque Swede fellatio can't be blamed on Lidstrom taking home the trophy. He had a monster year, he's still a defensive genius, and he's the best defenseman in all three zones. That's why he won.
