United lucked the hell out that nobody else was seriously in play for him. Maybe it was a bit of skepticism regarding midfielders from Portugal after some recent busts (Renato Sanches, Joao Mario) but for each of those there were guys who left and made instant impacts (Ruben Neves, Bernardo Silva) so that would be dumb. His production rate for a pretty crummy team also should've told teams there was something more to Bruno, and TBH teams throw around 70 million quid for far bigger gambles (Hi Nicolas Pepe).

Anyway, total bargain for them and he's almost single-handedly made them contenders again. A lot of clubs kicking themselves over that one.
