That spring/summer was the awakening of my sports fandom ... age 8 ... canucks lose the cup and 2 months later italy win the world cup. Feeling Sadness and elation from sports ... who knew !

I remember there was alot of hand wringing early in the tournament because he wasnt scoring (i remember my dad lol) and then he breaks through with 3 v brazil in the qfs.

can remember going down to commercial drive after the final with my parents and they bought me a mercato italiano tshirt that i think my mom probably still has in their basement ... rip paolo ... lots of great memories
