UEFA has no jurisdiction outside the stadia. They can only hand down punishment based on what happens in the stands. Outside is up to law enforcement.
I don't think that's true. Could be wrong (obviously), but I think they have general jurisdiction over anything that's match related, which includes fans going to and leaving the event.

I was in Portugal and Spain last month and though it wasn't my first time on the continent it was the first time I noticed that people over there just...carry around bottles of wine and drink from them. They put them in their purses, their bags, carry them in their hands, and swig.

How that continent doesn't have significant landfill issues (because nobody fucking recycles) is beyond me.
Hey, let's be fair. Benelux (Netherlands especially), Germany, and Scandinavia all do a fantastic job recycling.

We will throw you out: UEFA threat to England (and Russia) after violence shames Euro 2016

"While voicing their “disgust”, UEFA remain adamant that their primary jurisdiction is the stadium and official fanzones."

It is UEFA themselves stating this to be the case, so maybe they're just ducking responsibility and passing it onto the French police.

yes ... every road you go down in Italy is like that lol

/thats because there is always some sort of union strike / mafia not getting paid
Just making the point that many places in Europe are still ages behind in waste management and given the population density of those countries I can bet that the majority of waste is winding up in incinerators. Which I'm sure is doing wonders for the climate lol.

Fair enough, I thought they had jurisdiction in the immediate vicinity, but was obviously wrong :yo:

I guess they could always put pressure on the English association, but there's no way in hell they'd sanction their team in the middle of the tourney.

Austria self-imploding pretty quickly here (I read countless previews saying they would win the group, including from jstew's BFF Gareth Wheeler). Down a goal and now a red card.

Never bet on the team that plays the Von Trapp.
